anybody running 17" wheels on their 2500 4x4? i like the old school look with a little more meat and a little less wheel.

leveling kit goes on this weekend. i'm considering a 35x12.5r17 as a possibility.

will the 17s clear the brakes (pretty sure, but better off asking) ?

anybody know about what offset the wheels would need to be ?

thanks

If my tires and wheels show up before Friday I'll be putting 17" wheels on my truck this weekend. The specs on the rims I'm putting on are 17x9 with 0 offset and 5" of backspacing. I'm having a set of 35x12.5's mounted on them, I'll post pics when I get them mounted, and let you know if they rub, or stick out.

Here's a link to a decent tire and wheel size comparison site, https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/?wh...-17X9ET0&fcl=1in&scl=1.96875in&wcl=4in&sr=0in , it should open with the specs for my current setup, and the specs for my new setup in it.

17,s fit, you just need to watch where you put the balancing weights.

I have 17" AEV's and really love them. I also like a smaller wheel with beefy tire. A plus is it also softened up the ride a little. I don't do anything crazy like rock crawling but the truck has been unstoppable off road. The extra side wall helped.

Went with AEV because of the OEM look/quality and they are designed with the right spacing in mind to run a 35" tire on stock suspension and a 37" tire with only 2-3 inches of lift. You MAY get slight rub with 37's on only a leveling kit but I think it depends on the tire. AEV's lift moves the axle slightly forward so there is no chance at all of rub with 37's.

Only thing I would advise is watch out with clearance with the stick on wheel weights. On the AEV's you cannot use stick on's or they will not fully clear the calipers. Internal balance, or sometimes no balance is even needed with 35's or 37's.

Truck with stock suspension and 35's. Have found 0 rub any where. Will be doing 37's on next set of tires.

I have factory forged aluminum 17" wheels from a 2010-2013 Laramie on my 2016. The stock steel wheels are 35lbs a piece and the forged aluminum are 21.2. I have 285/75 Cooper AT3's on them.

I actually talked to a shop a few weeks back and they just did a AEV lift and they had to put spacers on the front bumper to push it out because the lift moved the axle so far forward the 37 was getting into the bumper. Something to think about, then again who knows if they where doing it right.

Ouch, that sucks. I have been to AEV's build plant near my house and the rigs all looked good. It may be something to do with the factory bumper, most of the builds have the AEV bumper which gives a massive increase in space in front of the tire. Although some people have gone with their lift on stock bumper, so who knows? Lol.

I couldn't stomach the price of that lift though. They put a ton of r&d into it but just too much for me.

Love their bumper and hood. A bit hard to justify the price but IMO it's the best looking option on the market.

I agree. Their hood is like perpetually out of stock lol. I find the guys at Diesel Power Products usually have good AEV inventory, and if they are out they re-stock very fast. That hood gives the HD a real beastly look though. The bumper is the best quality after market option I have seen in person.

I got my new 17" rims installed yesterday. The rims clear the brakes with no issues, the tires also don't rub even at full lock. The tires do stick out about 2" though, I might end up getting some fender flares to keep stuff off the sides of the truck.

I like it! You had mentioned flares. Black or Painted? I don't recall seeing you had Cab Lights. I installed a set on mine not long ago.

Cab lights were one of the things the truck had to have I added them to my last two trucks, these are factory though, I bet they look good on your truck. On the flares I haven't decided if I will paint them or not. I think I like the look better painted, but I'm not 100% sure.

I've found some knock off's on Amazon for around $150, both the factory style and the larger rivet style, both with good reviews. I'm not sure if I would like the look of the larger rivet style on my truck though. I know I like the look of the factory flares painted, but that would still leave 1" of tire without coverage.

There is a thread on here that has a place that does flares for a reasonable price. Located in Texas.
