Seems like mine runs more "consistently" with it in. Runs more like it does when it's cool still. Before it didn't seem to run as well after it got hot. Opens at about 188-190 then falls and stays around 181-185, unless I get on it hard, then it comes up to 190 or so. Before the engine ran at 203 most of the time. But I'd say yes that it is definitely worth it cuz the engine runs 20 degrees cooler than before. And heater is not affected at all. That has got to affect performance and longevity of engine.

Just ordered me one finally cant wait to install it. I have had my flexalite 183 installed for about 6 months and its been begging to have a 180 installed. For those of you that have installed it whats the best way to burp the cooling system?

I installed mine and Warm the engine up so that the thermostat is operating, and with the engine running and wearing gloves, repeatedly firmly squeeze the hoses leading from the radiator to the engine; keep doing it until it 'feels right

Best way to burp is to get the front of the truck up on ramps, so the radiator cap is the highest part of the cooling system...take the radiator cap and start the truck, wait for the thermostat to open, when the coolant level drops, top off the coolant and reinstall the cap.

Don't forget guys...HOAT coolant ONLY... Zerex G-05 is a HOAT coolant...no green stuff.

HOAT stands for Hybrid Organic Acid Technology...it doesn't contain phosphates, uses a specific inhibitor and lasts much longer than conventional coolant. If you mix it with conventional coolant, it causes the corrosion inhibitors to fail to do their job, eventually leading to a sludged up cooling system. It costs a little more than conventional, but the stuff lasts 100,000 miles.

ruh roh. I put the green coolant (Prestone - said it was safe for all makes) in mine the other day. I will change it out with the right stuff. Thanks for the info!

Never had a problem with it. Fill it up after you are done and with heater on let it warm up and t-stat open and fill slowly.

And then VVVVV

Yeah definitely get the green stuff out ASAP...otherwise your warranty could be affected. Either get the Mopar stuff from a dealer or hit up NAPA for the Zerex G-05.

Just an FYI for guys with gen3's that arent warranty bound, etc...if you seriously wanted to run the conventional, it is possible, BUT you would need to TOTALLY drain the entire cooling system...radiator, hoses, heater core and block COMPLETELY of the HOAT and do your backflushes...thats the ONLY safe way to run the green stuff.

But with the HOATS 100K mile service life, HOAT is the way to go.

Hope all is well with your cooling system after using the wrong coolant. I always go to the dealer to get mine. Its a couple bucks more than other brands but you cant go wrong with oem.

Thanks for the advice on burping the system. I worked on a buddies Mitsubishi and it took me 2 days to figure out why it was over heating after changing his radiator. After some research i found out it needed to be burped. I had to buy one of those special filler funnels to get it done.

I'm sure mine will be fine because it's only been a couple weeks since I did it. I'm sure this is a problem that occurs after a while of running it. I will change mine out in a couple days when I get home.

I talked to Sean about getting a Trinity and his custom tune...he said he recommends a 180 tstat. I can't speak from personal experience as I've never ran one. But I have one on the way now.
