Whats the biggest Tire i can fit in on the stock rims? Not the chrome ones, but the standard 20x8 express rims..

Does anyone know? Apologies if this is a repeat...too many search variables on tihs one i think.

Or would it be cheaper to find 17" rims and get matching tires that route.. I was trying to avoid buying rims, plus i like these..

you can probably find alot of tires that will fit that rim i know for a fact you can fit 35in trail grapplers. There is alot of people that are running big tires on the stock wheels

A true 35x12.50x20 might be cutting it close with stock wheels. Just due to the offset! You may have to trim you fender liners..but get some aftermarket wheels with a negative offset and you'll be good to go.

I have seen alot of members that have to run 1/4" spacers for 35" tires on stockers.

I'm trying to avoid aftermarket wheels.. I want to stick with the stocks.

What size would you guys recommend then?

3/8" backspace?

Well if you want a true 35" tire with stock wheels then yeah you'll need 1/4" spacers or do some trimming
Or you could just run a 295 tire, about the same height as a 35 just a tad narrower!

I thought the wheels on expresses were 20x9's? I have those same wheels on my truck so now I'm questioning myself lol

What others have suggested.....

You good even do 295/65/20 tire which is a 35.5" and not so wide and youll be able to get those bad boys to fit and look good.
Of course 1/4" spacers to ease your mine too

That is the route I would go if cost was a factor and still wanted BADASS :D

MuscleMckeester ran a 295-65-20 trail grappler on chrome clads with just a 2" level. Its like a 35x12x20. I run the same tire on my truck.

Your control arms and tire width are the issue. Not height of the truck. I was able to fit 36.8x14x18 but with a -24 offset and a LOT (i mean body pannels) of trimming with 2.5" level and 3" BL. It was miserable to drive and I had to 32 point turn like austin powers every where I went to keep from rubbing the tire.
a 1/4" spacer put a 12.5 wide tire ridiculously close to upper control arm. So if you want taller which after 35" diameter often means wider. You would want a a hubcentric spacer made which it term would almost be cheaper to just get 17" rims with proper offset.
I suggest getting under the truck and doing some inspection and measuring yourself seeing what all clearances issues you will encounter.

If cost is an issue I would go the 17" rim route because the cost of tires is significantly cheaper. They will be lighter as well and provide better performance. The cost of hubcentric wheel spacers+20" tires could almost be close to the cost of 17" rims and tires

Thanks for that, huge help..

Yeah, starting to feel 17" rims and tires is the way to go.. And additionally Looking at the 295/60-20's just isn't giving me the look i'm hoping for.

Glad I could be of help. If you have any doubts what so ever that you may not be happy with the look I suggest go with your gut and go with what you want. Buy once and spend a little more but save money in the long run. Bullys is the way to go for parts as the owners are ram enthusiasts first and a parts retailer 2nd.
