My truck recently went in the shop for a decent time period for the airbag clock spring clicking and some fender flares coming off. Luckily they gave me a loaner, even in the same color as mine. I was quite surprised how peppy the V6 is with the 8 speed and the 3.55 gears. It is lighter than my truck due to the shorter bed and smaller motor and gets up to speed pretty easily. I definitely missed the torque and sound of my Hemi but I could probably live with the smaller motor if I had to, aside from the noise at full tilt. The Express trim or whatever it was definitely lacked a lot of creature comforts compared to my Laramie however. The tiny radio screen was funny especially when using the backup camera.

I hauled a bed full of mulch for the wife and aside from being a bit unstable on bouncy roads, it moved it around fine. It didn't like backing up the angled driveway into my yard, had a few times where it wouldn't engage reverse.

I eventually found a good use for that missing glovebox!

My son-in-law bought a v6 4x4 bighorn. He was happy as a lark until he drove my hemi while his was getting body work done. Now he wants to trade for a hemi and my daughter won’t let him. He’s mad as hell

**** I love the hemi powered ram. Like the Cummings even more. But neither make much Financial sense for me. I don’t haul or have desires to get a speeding ticket. Lol.

Gas prices are on the rise. He'll get over it soon enough!

I sometimes wish I'd found a late model V6 when I was looking. Couldn't find anything in my price range at the time.

Well, I went the other way. My 3.6L V6 needed the thermostat replaced. For some reason there was a shortage of thermostats and my truck was in the shop for three days. My loaner vehicle was a 2018 1500 with the hemi engine. Yeah, it was a blast going down freeway ramps, and occasionally punching it on the freeway (just because), but I didn't like seeing the 14 mpg in the EVIC. (I reset the mpg meter when I picked up the loaner.) I put on about 150 miles in those three days. About half was freeway miles, half was city driving. I don't have a lead foot. Once you get used to getting 20+ mpg on just about every tankful with the V6 it really hurts to go backwards.

I love my Pentastar. Y'all talk so highly about the Pedal commander your starting to make me considered spending money I really shouldn't be spending.

If you really want the best of both worlds, do the V6 8 speed paired with the Pedal Commander.
He's preachin gospel right here!

I had strongly considered this option when looking for my replacement 2018, but settled with buying a 2019 Hemi. Yes, there’s no logic in that ha ha ha ...

The older I get...the more I like the MPG vs the MPH!

Lol me as well. I don' get good mpg with my 2500 but I didn't buy it for that. I will say that the older i get and especially the last few years I don't care for loud exhausts anymore. I still like hearing them occasionally so long as it' not going by my house in the middle of the night. However on my truck I have no desire for one.

That is a big change from my earlier years. I guess I'm slowly becoming more old fartish. Lol!

On point, good to read this about the v6!

Yep completely stock. Except a bug deflector. I just did an oil change with Pennzoil full synthetic the day prior. That was mostly highway with some city doing 60 or less. And the AC was on the whole time. I've seen 26 whith the AC off a couple of times.
