2002 4.7 4x4 5speed. It's been sitting for about 8yrs. Finally got the extra cash to work on it. New fuel pump, plugs, 2 new coils, oil change etc. I got it running and sounding great at idle but heard a little knock when idled up. Pulled passenger side valve cover and found a rocker had popped out. (Apparently 4.7 is notorious for). Looked it up and seen how to pop back in place. It felt snug as did all the rest. And also checked the lifter which felt like it was good. Went ahead and checked other side just to be safe.
Now, I took it for a test drive. It accelerated fine til I shifted to 4th at I believe it was about 60mph,and it completely fell on its face. I was about a mile from home, I stopped to turn around and barely got it going again. Was bogging down like it wasn't getting fuel. Drove home in first. It does have approx 220,000 on it. But I wouldn't think that it would just fall out like that. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I found a reman long block for about 2k.
