2003 ram 2500 engine swap

i have a 2003 ram 2500 quad cab long box with a 5.7 with 104k on it. she threw a rod over the weekend and in looking to swap the engine. im looking to buy a 2006 ram 2500 same truck but short box, and was wondering what all is differant about the motor? i understand the 06 has EGR on it and the 03 does not. but if i use the intake and exhaust manifold from the 03 those ports will be covered. any tips of info on the swap? any help would be great!

The only sufferance really motor wise will be the TB which just use your 03 one and use your sensors off your 03. Take your plastic intake off and run a hose through all the ports and make sure all the metal shavings come out. The front of the truck pulls out pretty quick but plan on it being a day and a half project. How many miles are on the 06 motor?

I'm not able to locate the link, but I remember it showed the 03 TB plugging into a 04-06 TB by removing the locator tab on the newer TB. egr block and it should bolt in. Am I missing anything else?

i was always under the impression that none of the 2500 series engines had the egr... I could be wrong though.

I know the 04 2500 we did the bore kit in had an egr because I ended up getting its block off plate for mine.
