It’s not hard but it is alittle time consuming. If you don’t mind reading a service manual it should have the exact instructions but I’ll give you the stuff as I remember it.
You’ll need to pull the entire manifold out to get the the gaskets so the air intake and hemi hat will need to be removed. Take off the alternator and the a/c pump, you can’t get the manifold out with them in the way. The a/c pump has 3 bolts holding it on, two long bolts in the front and one small one behind the pump attaching it to the engine. You can leave the A/C lines hooked up, just unbolt the a/c and push it out of your way. If you loosen the a/c lines prepared to get sprayed with high pressure Freon and cover everything with green goup. Ask me how I know.
You’ll need to remove all the coil packs and plug wires. Make sure you tag them to remember where they go. Driver side is 1,3,5,7 from the front of the truck going to the back. Passenger side is 2,4,6,8 front to back as well. You can leave the huge mess of wires attached to the manifold, just need the stuff disconnected from where they enter the valve covers.
There are two rubber vacuum lines attached behind driver side of the throttle body. Just pull them off. One goes to the brake vacuum canister and the other to the EVAP system.
There is a large electrical plug on the driver side of the throttle body. Just disconnect it.
You will need a special tool to remove the fuel line from the fuel rails. It’s basically a quick connect hose you have to insert a tool into the end of it to unclip. After that’s off make sure you don’t turn the ignition key or gas will go spraying out of it. Best thing to do is just unplug the fuel pump fuse.
I think there are 10 bolts holding the manifold down, 5 on each side. They have rubber gaskets holding them into the manifold, so they only come out so far after you loosen them. They stay inserted in the manifold.
There is a wire harness that is attached to the very back of the manifold, you need to unclip it to remove the manifold.
I don’t think you need to remove the throttle body to clear it coming out. But it wouldn’t hurt to give it a good clean while you are there. Maybe also check the pcv valve and replace that if necessary.
That’s all that I can remember that needs unhooked. It should just pop out with alittle force to break the gaskets free. There is a small gasket around each intake port. Those are what you are changing out. Then just put everything back together. I hope I’m not forgetting anything else, if you have issues let us know and we can figure it out. Good luck!
