2005 dodge ram 1500 need to know what this part is

This part was hanging down under the driver side dash, looks like some kind of coil for something. On the other end of this the wires go up into the dash, looks like it goes into the wiring harness. Does anyone have a clue to what this is. I unplugged it and nothing happens.

Shift interlock, Steering wheel lock? im not too sure. will it come out of park without the brake depressed? Does the wheel lock with the key out? hopefully somebody will chime in here
