So doing some work on my 05 Ram Laramie. Had to remove the sun visors to access the area above the headliner. When I took down the sun visors, on both of them, the lighted mirror door pins broke so the cover doors have essentially fallen off. Since there is a light switch behind the door, the mirror lights are now on all the time. Does anyone know of a good way to fix this. It seems that those visors (with lights) are not available to replace but I noticed I can buy one without the lights and the door seems the same. I'm not sure how easy it would be to replace just the door without breaking the plastic door pins. So that's 20 year old plastic for ya.

Looking for any input from anyone else who had to deal with this.

Thanks

I'd try to replace the doors on the mirrors if possible. Otherwise buy without lights. You can replace the door but you have to be patient and easy

That's what I was thinking but I didn't know if anyone had done that yet and if they had any photos, videos or advice. Seems pretty easy to just break the new one LOL. I even thought about leaving the door off, and changing the push button switch to an actual on/off switch but I was looking for an easier approach first.

this help?

i was looking around at replacement mirror costs, they seemed to be cheap...until i entered for a Ram truck...the prices doubled. lol

I once had a 1981 corvette and every time i needed a part, it was like the price tripled because it was a corvette! So, i learned not to say it was a corvette. Needless to sy, i got rid of that money pit...at a loss, but, worth it.

I can imagine. I'm actually having a really hard time finding a replacment for mine since it has the light in it, it seems much harder to find. I'm thinking of buying one that seems to have the same cover door and see if I can carefully remove it from the new mirror and install it on mine since my visors are in great shape, it's just the dang old plastic pins that broke on the flip cover/door

This is just an off the wall idea, but could you heat up a small metal rod,and melt it into the cover.
I've repaired a few plastic pins,by replacing them with a rod melted into a plastic cover

Interesting idea about using a small metal rod with the existing cover. You wouldn't happen to have any images or videos of doing it??

So any additional question. There's a round plastic clip (about 1.5" +/- that mounts to the ceiling above the headliner that the visor bracket appears to pivot on. It's held in by 3 small plastic pertrusions. On one of mine one broke off so this really doesn't stay in place. It looks like it seems to be a bit of a spacer for the visor to pivot on so it can rotate around. I'd like to replace it but can't seem to find it or find a part number for it. I've seen in on a diagram listed as part #6 on the diagram but couldn't find a place to find a part number or a real description. See below. Anybody have any additional info on this?
