Hi, Ram owners, I am new to this forum and not really sure how to navigate this forum. I have a lot of questions, I will start off by saying I do love my truck. I am the original owner and I keep the truck in mint condition. I have sunk so much money in this truck for various things including 3 Particulate filters changes and a turbo or two and multiiple other things. It is currently in the shop for 2 things. First, a check engine light came on during a freeway trip to Tennesse from Mi. Had a diesel mechanic pull the code and it read 2 codes, P000F and P1011. We changed the fuel filter because it was the cheapest and easiest and the check engine came back on about 50 miles after it was replaced. We were 300 miles from home pulling an RV, we kept driving because there was no loss of power and the engine seemed to be running fine and the light was not flashing. Than all of a sudden the display started reading particulate filter 90% full, we were freaking out. We kept driving and display kept saying 90% full. We drove about 50 miles on the freeway and pulled into a rest area for about 30 minutes to gather our thought. We decided to chance it and keep driving. When we got back on the freeway a few minutes later the display started reading re gen in process 80% full than 70% than re gen complete. I don't know what to make of all this and I am really getting tired of spending so much money on my truck that I love. It is a very nerve racking situation with this going on and we are pulling a 40 foot 5th wheel with limited places to stop and park. Can someone help please??
Thank you,
Bobb A

Being its first generation of that EPA junk I would have removed DPF & sensors and put a tune in it like so many guys did shortly after it came out...

Thank you both, I have no idea what that is that you have done to your truck. I have heard of removing the dpf but was told that is a no no so I just discounted it. My truck is all stock except for a Banks cold air intake. I guess I should mention this diesel only has 155K miles. I am waiting for the dealership to call and let me know what parts need to be replaced this time. Again, I love me truck but don't love all the money I have sunk into it. I suppose I should of found this forum many years ago, I may be more knowledgable of what to do with my truck when things go wrong.

Do you have to do inspections to get your tags?

As I understand it, the regen process is an automated cleansing of the particulate filter. Once the filter gets clogged to a certain point your engine will go into regen mode. The filter is superheated and all of the crap gets vaporized. I don't know how its done.

I would expect this is explained in your owners manual. I don't have any first hand knowledge of regen, just what I've read about it here on this forum. I'm kind of surprised you have not seen this before now.

Considering recent EPA activity in the past year or so, I wouldn't proclaim that too loudly. They're mainly going after the professional tuners but how long before they get greedy and pounce on random people?

I'm ignorant of the regen process, but on my 5.9 there is a bleed off on the fuel filter housing. You may have a tank of dirty fuel that regular bleeding will keep on top of. And then again, I know nothing. Welcome to the forums and good luck with your baby,

thank you for those that have chimed in. The regen is suppose to happen automatically when it get full and to drive at 45 miles an hour for 20 minutes or something like that. My puzzlement is that when my regen appeared on the displace, I had been driving on the freeway pulling a 5th wheel. I know this should of not come on. Another puzzlement is that it did not start the regen process till after I stopped in a rest area for about 30 minutes and then when we got back on the freeway thats when the display stated it was in the regen process.
On a different note, as I stated in my original post the check engine lite came on way before the regen issue ever started. I got my truck back from the dealership yesterday and they are kinda puzzled as well. They kinda equate both issue with me going through the mountain pulling the 5th wheel and said something about a fuel pressure switch was doing it job because of going through the mountains and pressing down to get more fuel, they sais its a safety feature. Not sure if I buy all this. I really would like to hear from owners that have the same year as mine so we could compare notes. Please keep your suggestions coming. I have no ware else to turn.
Thank you all,
Bobby A
