Last week the rear blinkers and brake lights went out on my 07 1500. I've read all the posts about TIPM failures. I'm trying the trailer harness splice workaround to save $$. I read the blinker was a yellow and white wire. Connected the blinker wire from the harness to the tail light assembly. The Brake light and blinker now work but the tail light stopped working. Are these 3 functions all controlled through 1 wire? I'm not messing with the other side until I figure this out. I understand schematics but I haven't seen a single thread with simple instructions about what the colored wires are connected to. There are 2 ground wires and a few multicolored wires going into the tail light assembly. I've been running with no brake lights but if I drive at night with both tail lights out I'll be a target, for sure.
As far as the TIPM, is their circuitry inside? It looks like it's just a plastic box with fuses sticking through that connect with wiring harnesses underneath. Is it the actual box that goes bad or the harness underneath?
Any advice will be appreciated. I know this has been a topic in a lot of threads but I've not seen much about using the trailer harness wiring.
Thanks in advance!
