I've got a beast of a radio in my 07' 3500. By beast I mean, it misbehaves, isn't effective, and it's time to put it down.

Help me out here.... I'm a semi-capable novice, but can get it taken apart and switched out I think. I did it in my cherokee, but it was a plug and play.

This is the beast of a stereo I have now (not my pic but same unit)

It is huge and the volume randomly changes out of nowhere and the steering wheel controls do random things (like station down will turn the volume UP randomly).
The BIGGEST issue for me is that this has no bluetooth or aux port. I travel a LOT with my RV so using my phone while driving is not an option unless it's hands-free. I also have a huge screen currently up on my windshield to display my maps, but it too cannot connect to the speakers due to no bluetooth/aux so no music or maps or phone. I'm spoiled and loved those features in my cherokee. I want the huge screen gone so I can see better and more convenience in the dash.

What I need to find:

-- apple play compatible
-- touch screen
-- screen that won't glare in the sun (I'm in Memphis where it's bright and HOT a lot)
-- affordable (I don't need top of line, just something that won't freeze up or have constant static)

Hope for:
-- prefer plug & play but seems like a fantasy at this point (I've never spliced wires but I can with instructions)
-- internal microphone (but will settle for external if it's the only option)
-- easy to access mute/power button
-- compatible with SWC

I've seen a lot of options that claim they could work, but then they don't mention needing a new bezel or a special adapter/wiring harness that isn't included and I'm at a loss. This baby is factory so I have none of the extra parts currently and just need someone to point me the right way so I get all of what I need.

Go to Crutchfield.com and do a search, a quick one I did for a 2007 1500 returned a number of options. You can call them and work with a representative, I have done that in the past and been very pleased with the help.

One thing to consider, your steering wheel controls may be contributing to your problem and perhaps your clockspring has degraded a bit. Do you ever have problems with your cruise control setting, turning off, etc.? If not, doesn't mean your CS isn't still an issue but only way I know to test in your case is to replace radio (since you want upgrade anyway) and see if volume issue continues. If yes, replace CS.

Good luck.
