Without warning P2262 code popped up on dash after a warm start, just move the truck. I tried to drive the truck after to no avail. I have no boost pressure whatsoever, it wont get over 20km per hour and will blow fat black smoke. I have read the code to be no boost pressure so I checked around the air to air for cracks or leaks, unplugged sensors, checked air filter blockage, and the turbo wheel. Nothing that I can see from a basic inspection screams “I’m the issue”. I can’t drive it to my shop to do more inspections so I’ll have to haul it on a trailer if I want to get deeper in to this.
Does anyone have any insight on other methods to check and possibly fix this issue. I assume the turbo is shot but better to check than to spend 5k for the same issue to arise.

Ok.... on that year model, the code is most common when the turbo actuator slide ring and slide ring pins are stuck in place. Typically from soot buildup because the exhaust brake isn't actuated often enough to clean it out. Does your exhaust brake work?

There are 2 things that you can do that "should" resolve the issue. 1) Clean the turbo. 2) Replace the turbo actuator. City Diesel makes a great aftermarket kit that doesn't require you taking the truck in for recalibration. You "could" require a turbo replacement if the soot buildup can't be cleaned out.

If you want to do this yourself... get access to the actuator and try manually moving the actuator arm. You can sometimes break it free with very minimal force by hand. If it doesn't move, remove the actuator and have the turbo cleaned. Then I would highly suggest replacing the actuator assembly.

These VGTs will stick if you don't exercise the actuator periodically. So... use the exhaust brake.
