Hi all. I have the hvac box out and laid out on my workbench. I'm trying to replace the heater core, evap core, and any actuators I won't be able to reach from the front side. So that means I have the recirculation, and the one at the back of the hvac box. Are they the same? Are all the actuators the same for the whole box? It's in a 2009 ram with atc. Oreillys and autozone are telling me 2 different stories about it. One says they are the same and the other days they are different. Please advise. Thanks.

According to the parts list, they're all the same - here's the OEM part # - 68048902AA

All actuators are identical
The only difference is whether there is 4 or 5

The difference being, in 2009 the Dodge Ram 1500 came with either Single or Dual Zone
Dual Zone would have 5 actuators

If you can buy the OEM Actuators, do it.
The OEM Actuators are built better & they are synchronized with the controls

There are YouTube videos that explain it

while you have the unit on the bench ..
Replace the Heater & Evaporator

You may have noticed that the doors are falling apart, the Foam Rubber is shot

The actuators fit into fitting that lifts & drops the doors
Those fittings break off where they force the door to the raised position.

There are 2 brands of Doors
Dorman is OK,
BUT
Blend Door USA is made out of light weight Aluminum

If i had the HVAC unit out of a 2009, i would definitely replace the doors

Recirculation Door near the Air Inlet
Blend Door is the closest door to the Blower Fan, there are 2 Blend Doors on a DUal Zone Unit
Then closer to the Drivers side, there are 2 Mode Doors

My 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 had DUAL ZONE HVAC
notice the 2 sets of arrows near the Knobs
& the Temps are side by side in the little display

I replaced the evap core and heater core. I replaced the actuators for the recirc and the one on the firewall side. I did this yesterday. I got everything put back together for the most part but still have 2 console bolts to put back in between the seats, and the heater hoses, and ac line.

I don't have the money for new doors. It took me a while to save up money for the parts I already replaced. I know i should have done the doors as well but couldn't swing the cost right now. I just have to make sure I have heat for the winter. I have kids and don't want them freezing on thr way to school.

I have an issue. I found an extra wiring harness plug between the console and dash. It's located more toward under the radio. Where does it go? I've tried to upload a picture but for some reason I'm not allowed. Idk.

Is it an orange 6 pin connector with just 2 wires? If so it’s the unused connector for the 120v ac outlet. Just tuck it away, it’s not supposed to go to anything. My 2009 has that also.

No it's like a 9 or 10 pin connector. Gray plug. On startup my truck shows esp bas, and serv 4wd. Also shows traction control is lit up on dash

A few min ago I could shift the transmission all thru the gears. Now it's locked in park and won't budge

You can put the truck in Neutral, so it can be pushed or towed
IF you have the Full Floor Console
If you look at the shift lever
1st Gear position
Look just to the right, you will see a little retangular depressed area.
You can lift an edge of the rectangle
There will be a HOLE
Down in that Hole, there is a Pink or Orange colored thing

You should check your manual
I know that you have to set your E Brake

Then use a tool to push down on that Pink thing
I do not recall if you also have to move the shift lever during the process,
you do not want to break something, as i mentioned, check the manual itself or Online

The plug is attached to the metal so it has to go somewhere relatively close. I've looked like crazy and all different angles and cannot see where it's supposed to go.

Probably need to replace your brake switch to take care of the esp bas and related lights. Pretty common after pulling dash. And that would be why it’s locked in park, it doesn’t know your pressing the brake so won’t let you shift. Check your brake lights.

Sure sign it’s your brake switch. Try and bend the metal tab/adjust the switch to where it’s correctly detecting when the brake pedal is pushed. Or just order a new mopar switch and it will have instructions on how to set it.

I found a video
This is a 2011 Dodge Ram SLT
It is as close as you can get to your 2009

He calls the 2 Mode Doors, Blend Doors by mistake
many Dodge Ram owners are guilty of that, so no biggie.

Have a look

I still am not sure where that plug plugs into. I'm going to replace the stop light switch in about an hour or so. We will see where that gets me. Thanks

Well I replaced the brake switch and all the lights went off. As far as the plug i never found it's mate. So I just left it unplugged. Truck runs great now. Maybe it was a factory plug that isn't used for my vehicle. Thanks for the great help.
