For a rebuilt reprogrammed PCM, call 1-800-225-5345 and give the VIN of your truck. close to 300D I remember.
Is it possible to swap a pcm from a same year and Drive train that has been tuned to go into my 2009 laramie ?
Also what steps are involved and what guidlines or rules are there when swapping a pcm from one truck to another ?
My swap went smooth, but I didn't send them mine to unlock. I sent them a fleabay pcm same as mine and they sent me the unlocked pcm. Works great and have my original if something were to ever happen. I've had the pcm swapped for a while now and tried a few tunes. I know vehicle specific tunes are better than canned, but I like the 91 octane CAI tune with my kn CAI and flowmaster flowfx exhaust. Also have the performance trans tune which is actually pretty good in its own right. I'm sure HP may be better, but for my needs the Diablo has been great. Only thing I don't like is how slow and clunky the tuner interface is when completing tasks. I was going to get a hemifever tune, but don't know how long I'll have my 1500 5.7, next truck will be a 2500. Our campers keeps getting bigger and heavier. Loading up now for 6 day trip.Don't send your PCM to Diablo for unlocking send it to HP instead.Lots of guys claim Diablo has ripped them off,and says their pcm is junk, and then tries to sell them one of their pcms, and never sends back the supposedly garbage pcm.
I wouldn't give Diablo any money or PCM these days, ever since Holley bought them out, they've went downhill
No the guy replied to my PCM question with a sales pitch answer. Like , "Here call my 1800 # and pay me to unlock your pcm" Aaahhhgoooof !Just curious, but the guy you quoted, posted that answer, to someone else, a year and a half ago... His answer, that you didn't like, occured a year and a half before you asked the question? Or am I missing something?
Anyway, to answer your question, Yes, another PCM from the same year will swap right in, physically.
But, it needs the VIN and vehicle information programmed into the PCM or it won't work.
AlfaOBD has the option in the Engine Computer - Active Diagnostics tab, to program the VIN and to write the vehicle information to the PCM. I can't verify that it works though, as I have not actually done it myself.
Or, alternatively, aftermarket companies, like the one in that year and a half old post up above, can program it for you.
some tipms dont need to be programmed its hit or miss I just swapped one into a 17 durango didnt have to do a thing. But yes you can program a TIPM with a good scan toolI bought a pcm from a pull yard that has a bulldog tune and was thinking of swapping it into my truck and see how I like it. I have no idea what actual tune the truck has except that it's a bulldog tune.
I do know the truck had the same 545 rfe and the 5.7. It also had long tube and true dual exhaust. Guy at the yard told me that when he drove it to the yard that it ripped like hell.
I got there after the engine and tranny was already sold.
Can you also swap a tipm the same way by rewriting the VIN also ?

If it is only the alternator charging problem, the most cost effective approach is to wire in an external regulator. Get one from the late '80s / early 90s. It is easy to do, I've done lots of them but not recently.the ECM does not send signal to the alternator to charge, I’ve sent it out to get fix but they said it was unrepairable. Thanks for the information, I’ll look at those years than
You must be reading a differant thread then the rest of us,as i don't see anybody reply'ing to your question . The way i read this thread Ken's right ,unless there's a hidden reply the rest of us aren't seeing.I never quoted the guy in the first place. I asked a question at the bottom of the thread and he replied to me.
Are you like the forum hall monitor ?
