The factory amp in my 2010 Ram 1500 with Alpine stereo seems to either by VERY weak or is broken. There is nothing coming out of the subwoofer and I see no movement in the sub. I have tried 2 different subs in the truck, 1 being brand new. Anything else I need to check before completely condemning the amp? The rest of the stereo system works fine.

Always check the simple stuff like wiring before condemning the amp. I am not at all familiar with the Ram OEM stereo. Is there a way to turn off the subwoofer at the HU? Is the amp fused? It better be. Check that too.

There is no way to shut off the sub through the head unit. I checked the wiring and all seems fine. I have continuity between the amp and the sub. I put a voltmeter on the wires at the sub and it fluctuates between 1 and 1.6 volts.

You might get more traffic in the audio and electronics section

I find it odd that there isnt a way to adjust the factory sub level or even mute it.

That was the DC voltage. I haven't found a way to adjust anything with the sub from the head unit. It is the RESULT head unit

The voltage on the subwoofer leads would be AC.

So now I am getting no voltage. Checking the wiring diagram on techauthority.com, it says there are 4 wires from the amp to the sub GY/WT, DG/WT, GY/BR and DG/BR. But at the speaker plugs the wires are just white and black. Any help is greatly appreciated.

So I checked things right at the amp. I get a range of .1 volt to .7 volt a/c right out of the amp. That tells me that the amp is no good, correct?
