Good evening,

I have a 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie.

The sunroof has been working fine. Today though, I had the sunroof in the Vent Position. I went to go close the sunroof, and it will not work. I even hit the Vent button and it does make a sound but nothing moves. I have tried all the re-calibrating steps and that did not work. So the sunroof is stuck in Vent Mode. Do I need to just take it to the dealership? I am stuck with this. I even tried resetting the fuse and that did nothing...

Sounds like the mechanism that engages the motion from the motor is broken. You may have better luck and a cheaper price from a third party sunroof installer. Most every sunroof from every manufacturer is made by one company, Wabasto/Hollandia. They should be able to fix it instead of replacing it.

Okay....

It's weird because there was only one other time it did this and it was back in 2017, but my uncle just kept hitting the close button and then it finally caught on to close.. And it's worked up until then.. Truck barely gets used. Only has 13,000 miles on it and it's covered year round.. Only used on certain occasions..

The only other thing I would try (at your own risk) it to place slight upward pressure on it and attempt to close it. Place your hand in the middle of the glass and press up a little, then press and hold the close button. Take your hand off the glass if it moves with the motor even a little.

I'd pull the overhead console down a bit and check the wire connector to the switch, same thing happened to my 2014, the connector came loose from the switch, I couldn't believe how little slack there was in the wire, it was a pain to get plugged back in with how close I had to have the console to the roof to get it to fit

Definitely worth a look, but I think he said it makes noise when he presses, just not movement...
