I have a 2011 Ram 1500 2wd with the 5.7l with 91,000 miles on it. I was driving a few days ago and the check engine light came on and my speedometer stopped working. The code I pulled Was U1412 which is "implausible vehicle speed vehicle signal received". The brake light came on. The abs light has been on for about a year (but with no issues).

I have a couple of questions. Can a regular mechanic deal with this issue or is this something the dealership have to handle? Is there anyway or method I could do to fix this on my own.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks

Regular mechanic should be able to. I'm guessing wheel speed sensor.

had the same on my jeep a few years ago. The implausible basically means the computer is seeing , on an axle, one tire spinning and not the other. Mine was a busted wire. With the jeep it would tell me which wheel it was. I could not find anything with the 1412 code to indicate f/r/l/r

Google 2011 Ram 1500 ABS sensor replacement. Plenty of youtubes. It's not all that hard, but without knowing which one it is, just a shot in the dark.
