I just replaced my blower motor and bought a new resistor. New resistor matches up with old one but as soon as I plug it up and turn on the truck, the blower motor does not come on but if I put the old resistor back in it takes forever for the blower to kick on. Could the resistor not be any good? I have the auto temp control in my truck.

Is the new resistor OEM? I’ve read several complaints on this forum about aftermarket blower motor resistors not working. I think the OEM is a Denso.

It is not OEM. The resistor can cause the a delay in the blower motor turning on correct?

Auto temp control usually means some delay after start, as the system has to sense internal temp and determine what to turn on, or to wait for engine to come up to temp if heat is called for. My 2016 takes at least a couple minutes after startup to power up the fan and call for heat on a cold day- usually kicks in just as I’m hitting the main highway 3/4 of a mile from home.

Every bad Mopar climate control resister I’ve ever replaced shared common characteristics; no response when turning on the fan, either manually or automatically, or operating only at full speed on manual control. Try starting your truck then bypassing the auto-control by switching to vent and manually turning on the fan. If the fan runs and speed is controllable, in my experience it’s ok.
Just MHO.

best,
RI
