I'm going crazy trying to find the blower motor resistor on my 2018 Ram sport 1500 with a 5.7 Hemi. It does have auto temp control.
My AC / Heater was working perfect Friday. Today I went out to my truck it was blowing extremely slow almost not at all. Than just stopped all together. I checked both fuses they are good. I pick up a resistor from AutoZone. There is nothing under dash around the blower moted that resembles it. I only have 2 wires under there and they go directly to the motor.
Thank you for your help

Believe with ATC it's built onto the motor itself.

So if memory serves me correctly, this is the only thing that failed on my 16 year old RAM. mine 2010 is under glove box behind a little boxish doohicky made for it. Mine actually failed under warranty, kinda of a known issue so I didn't have to fix mine, but it is literally plug and play item.

You'll see there that there are two different parts depending on auto/manual climate. We can only assume that they sold you the wrong part.

Hi Joseph King.

Provided that you're positive about having the Auto-climate control, the resistor pack should look similar to the picture below.

blower resistor pack for auto climate Ram trucks.jpg

The installation location can be seen in the following YouTube video.

This YouTube video provides a good explanation of how the resistor pack functions.
It also addresses several reasons for resistor pack failures with preventative suggestions and diagnostic tips for a failing blower motor.

And, welcome.gif to Ram Forum.

Welcome! Have you checked your in cabin air filter? If it gets clogged it will stop all the air circulation.

I bought a blower motor resistor for my 2018 Ram when I thought maybe it was going out, but it turns out there's a blank spot where one used to mount in earlier years, and in 2018 they went to some kind of module. I returned the resistor and my blower is working fine, so I've never found out exactly where that module is. I've read it could be behind the glove box or the passenger kick panel. I'll be interested if you do find out where it is! The blower resistor is a part that I've often replaced in my older vehicles, just as preventive maintenance after a few years.

Are you indicating the resistor pack in your truck is not located in the location identified in the first video posted above?

No, all that's there is a blank area where it looks like it could be cut out to install a blower motor resistor. Mine is not a Hemi though, it's a Tradesman V6. From what I remember when I went through this, I think some 2018s might have the resistor pack, and some don't.

Does your truck have a 7-speed blower fan with ATC?

According to the owner's manual for a 2012 model, it features a 4-speed blower fan.

No I don't have ATC. It's a Tradesman, though it has an upgraded interior, but just a Uconnect 3 with the 5-in screen. The blank spot on the ducting looked like it would fit the blower resistor I purchased, but there were no wires or anything there, and it wasn't cut out. It must use that other module system, or it might be on the motor itself, or in the software. I really don't know.

That's interesting.

So much for a standard configuration. I see a resistor pack in the 2013 service manual.
It does look as though it's installed in the same location as the video, but unclear if it applies to the manual temperature control (MTC) HVAC.

I did find a parts store listing that indicated a resistor pack for both the ATC and MTC.
The packs looked very different: the MTC resistor pack likely resides elsewhere.

I will search for more answers as time permits.
Thanks for the update.
