My work truck is a 2012 1500 with the 4.7, I am VERY disappointed in the way that it shifts through the gears. I keep the truck in tow haul mode all the time to make it shift better. I don't know if its just because I have the smaller V8 and it doesn't have enough ass or if the transmission is just garbage. There is no get up and go and it shifts to soon. Does anybody else notice this or am I just nit picky.

i have a '12 5.7 and out of the hole the truck sucks, wont even chirp the wheels unless u get it high up in the RPMs, maybe its coz of the 3.55 gears but the '10 and '11 i tried had more umphh and would spin the wheels even with the 3.55.

but i don't think its from the transmission as the 4.7 iirc still has the "old" 5 speed, its possible its just the updated torque management for which i cant wait to remove to help get this truck moving!

Well it is a low 16 second truck at best. But what do you mean by shifting too soon?

It shifts like I'm in a parade or something, it goes first second third before I'm going 30 mph. the motor doesn't rev enough before a shift and the motor doesn't have enough torque to overcome the low revs. in tow haul it lets the revs clime a little before it shifts. I'm a manual transmission kind of guy so I'm not a big fan of autos to begin with but this thing doesn't understand that when my foot is down i don't want to be cruising at 1000 rpms.

Does it not have the button shift for the gears? I have a 5.7 and it has that, but mine does nothing of what you guys are talking about, if I get on it just a little bit it tries to break loose and traction control has to kick in. I have a hard time trying to keep it under 2000 rpm when accelerating.

What transmission is in there? I doubt it is even transmission related and probably those crap 3.55 gears. Ditch those and it will blow your mind.

i moved this to engine and performance section.

maybe it could be an added up number of things, 4.7 and not hemi....torque management, 3.55 gears, and changed shift points with the transmission.

Well the shift points are determined by the throttle position. But my guess is it's cause of the 4.7 since you have the same transmission as the 03-11 hemis(545rfe, not sure if the 4.7 got the 6 speed) and the same gearing I have. But I have none of the issues you're experiencing except for it being a dog off the line
