We have a 2013 Dodge Ram 5.7 Hemi 1500 PU. Our problem is the lights flickering in the dash. We live in a mountainous area and have a long dirt road to exit to a paved highway. The lights do not flicker on the bumpy dirt road but start when we get on the pavement. We have checked the fuses and all are set firmly. We have also tried changing the dimming setting with no positive results. I've been told that checking the ground wires could possibly solve the problem but have not been able to locate the ground wires. Any idea how to locate the appropriate ground wires? We really worry about getting the cluster replaced due to the cost but also because according to other posts, the problem can reoccur.

I have the exact same thing happening in my 2014. It's been going on for quite a while and I just live with it but would love to find a solution.

In searching online everyone talks of fuses and overall charging and I'm surprised to not see anyone looking at the dimmer switch. I'm much more of a house wiring expert than auto and know flickering lights are very often related to a failing dimmer switch.

I'm taking a stab and am going to replace the switch. $22 on Amazon and a looks super easy to swap. I have a warranty but with a $100 deductible I figure I'll give this a try.

One thing I noticed is that only my dash lights flicker.... not the Uconnect screen. But they both dim with the switch I'm replacing. Not sure if that makes the switch more or less likely to be the culprit?

Anyway, it's supposed to arrive Saturday and I'll report back on whether or not it resolves the problem.

So, I swapped the switch and noting changed. Swapping it was super-easy with some plastic trim pry tools but nothing changed.

Another thing I noticed with my situation..... recently put about 500 miles on my truck over a couple days and the flickering stops completely. Definitely making me think it's an overall charging issue that goes away if/when the truck gets enough use. Although, the alternator and general charging system have been checked and thought to be okay. I'll leave it at the dealer next oil change and report back.
