It's a bolt in other then the mds, just reuse all your sensors off your 2500 on the replacement engine. The only thing you might have to pay attention to,is the pilot bushing in the crank for the torque convertor,if the replacement engine is out of an 8 speed 1500,you'll have to swap in the pilot bushing for your torque convertor.@tron67j thanks I think I can use all my electronics especially if i switch the cam and lifters to none MDS, just not sure if the engine mounts and any other sensors are the same
Yes just swap the cam and lifters and buy the plugs for where the mds solenoids use to be on a 1500 engine. I do this all of the time currently doing it with a 2012 2500 picked up a ram 1500 engine for cheap.@tron67j thanks I think I can use all my electronics especially if i switch the cam and lifters to none MDS, just not sure if the engine mounts and any other sensors are the same
Where do you find a decent Hemi "for cheap?"Yes just swap the cam and lifters and buy the plugs for where the mds solenoids use to be on a 1500 engine. I do this all of the time currently doing it with a 2012 2500 picked up a ram 1500 engine for cheap.
facebook unfortunately its prob not the case for you in canada. Here i get them out of wrecks for $1500 if im in a rush. But lately I buy 5.7's for $400ish with bad cams freshen them up new cam lifters ect whatever it needs then throw them in a truck and the cycle repeats. I prefer it this way to because i know what kind of engine im installing not just guessing what the cam/lifters look like ect.Where do you find a decent Hemi "for cheap?"
WOW!!! $1500 ........ that is unheard of in these parts. Heck, just doing a cam and lifters is going to cost more than that.facebook unfortunately its prob not the case for you in canada. I always do valve stem seals while heads are off. I usually pull 1 rod bearing to to inspect.Besides cam and lifters do you do anything else? I know head bolts and gaskets. But what else if anything?
OK, thanks. So you don't do the oil pump or clean oil galleries, change pushrods or any of that sort of work?I always do valve stem seals while heads are off. I usually pull 1 rod bearing to to inspect.
oil pump only if the engine was really dirty looking inside. I do flush everything out that i can of course. I use a half a case of brake clean on one engine usually lmao and as far as the push rods have never needed to change them. I have never had a engine come back to me so i must be doing a decent job ahahaha I put a minimum of 1000 miles on these before i let them go as well.OK, thanks.
