I have a 4th gen 2500 6.4L. Was having fuel pump issues and put in a new TIPM. Followed the step by step directions and it worked great for the next 5-6 starts through the day. Went to leave to take my some to practice, jumped in the truck, it fired up, put in reverse, went about 6’ and it died. Thought maybe I didn’t give it enough time to warm up. No big deal. Put it in park and went to start it, wouldn’t start. Then, I couldn’t pull the key out. Tried messing with it and still couldn’t get the key out. Disconnected the battery then said screw it and swapped out vehicles. Come back 3 hours later and tried to hook up battery cables. Definitely had voltage as they sparked like crazy, so never really connected them.

Got in the cab and was able to get the key to the off position and remove it. Put it back in and turned it, no start, put the old tipm back in, no start, no lights, nothing.

Put the battery charger on it and it immediately clicked off as having 12 volts. So battery doesn’t seem to be the problem.

Any thoughts on this? The battery seems good but I’m at a loss. I have no lights on in the cab, now power locks, windows, and won’t even pull up the dash.

Sounds like a win module, do you get any lights on dash at all? TIPM shouldn't keep key stuck ever, I am pretty sure that must be bad win. I'm not 100% if the TIPM was shorted if that could get key stuck, my sense says no. I know it is rare to get two things at once, which gives me pause, but how sure are you the first thing was the fuel pump or TIPM and also not the win?

If battery is 4 years old should just be replaced. In Indiana you have long battery lives but short capacity lives.

Not sure on the battery age but it seems okay. I’ll put it tomorrow to get it tested.

As far as the TIPM goes I had it towed to a shop last year due to not starting. They put in a new fuel pump but then discovered a week later after it left my old lady stranded that the fuel pump fuse was gummed up with melted plastic and wasn’t making contact. So if it threw a fit I’d pull the fuse in and out a few times and it would start up.

Also, when it first went down the radio and dash were lit up. After a few minutes it went completely dead. No dash lights, radio, cab lights, or locks. The only thing it would occasionally do is the speedometer and thermostat needles would pulse.

Dumb question, what is the WIN and where is it located?

Your win module is what you put the key into. Sounds like you had two things at once, both are known issues. Plus both items tend to fail sporadically and not all at once. Battery should have a date on it? Check YouTube's, you can clean win modules, then you wont have to program and flash it.

Checked the battery. It has an 11/23 sticker on it so not even two years old. Looked up some ways to clean the WIN so will give that a try.

Posting as an update:

Big shout out to Burla for the notes and things to look at. I appreciate your help on my truck. Wanted to update on what I had done so far.

I left the truck with the battery disconnected all night and reconnected it around 5:30this evening.

Had radio and some dash activity. Said screw it and pulled out the old TIPM as the wife said she hear a click in it when I hit the key. Took out the old TIPM, reconnected everything, had lights in the cab, head lights, and door dinging immediately. Put the key in and turned it to run and let it do a 2 minute reset. Turned the key and it started. This has been a bit wild.

The only current thing not working is door locks on the inside but the remote works.

Going to clean the WIN sometime this week as a check.
