did you have to adjust the valve lash on the old 5.9? My brother exclusively towed with his ‘05 dually 5.9 and it blew at 100k miles. It had a hard life of only towing a gooseneck with 15-20k lbs of hay for almost every mile and not easy towing either, difficult mountain towing. I have always assumed it probably needed the valves adjusted and that is why is blew.

Wrong 5.9 most likely :)
His was gasoline (5.9 magnum), your brothers was probably the legendary 5.9 Cummins diesel.
I could be wrong though but I sure wouldn't want to try to move that load with a 5.9 magnum gas motor too often.

Not any valve lash adjustments on the gas motor.

I forgot about the old
Magnum 5.9. Yeah, my brothers was Cummins. My first truck was a red 1998 Ram 1500 sport extended cab with a 318, I swear the dual exhaust on that truck was the best sounding on any truck I’ve ever had.

As a 90's kid I had a passion for that 2nd gen body style. Personally I think it was the look of Walkers truck in the later seasons lol. I never owned one somehow but yeah those 318 in that body style loves it

I was talking to an insurance adjuster for a company that sells policies that are sold at dealerships. Not the phone PIAs. I jokingly asked him when my 6.4 will blow up. He said they don’t get claims on 6.4 RAMs. I consider that good news.
