newbie here, trying to get some direction/info on headlights. have a 2014 Ram with the quad headlights and they work like a dyson .
the lenses are excellent but do have a slight film on the inside that is only visible in certain lighting.
I've read a lot but no consensus on LED, upgraded halogen new assemblies etc. Do not want any CANbus issues :(. Any help is appreciated
TIA

Welcome to the forum. There are hundreds if not thousands of threads on this topic. You may wish to use the search box for "2014 headlights" and do some reading.
You'll find answers all over the board here. Many will tell you you can't put led's in the Quad housings, that the light scatters and blinds other drivers but this is simply not true. Some products don't work well but many do.
Some led's will run you 2 bills or more and some folks here will tell you that's what you need to spend but that's not true either.
You can find quality lights that work well in your Quads for $50 a pair...maybe less. Fahren is a popular light here that won't break the bank but there are many others.
Also know some model year trucks have more problems than others when it comes to accepting led upgrades.
Good luck.

Thanks David:
The truck looks just like yours ;) .
I've been able to establish it was sold to Enterprise initially and built as an SLT but badged BIGHORN. I have read that some sold to rental /lease companies were built as SLT's but badged Bighorns. makes perfect senses to me . SLT? SOME LEASE TRUCK? Other info gained elsewhere said It was sold about a year later to the second owner.
I have searched, and you are correct there is A LOT of conflicting information which has lead me to the following quandary:

1. Go with Phillips Extreme vision bulbs.
2. Go with an LED replacement. I have read of CANbus issues with some and don't want to go there or make any other mod's as they can put the screws to you later down the road. BTDT Plug and Play, no mod's or easily reversible are better IMO
a. if going the bulb/LED replacement way is it recommended to do both high and low?
3. Go to projector style.. not being a Rockefeller I would like it to be affordable but not need to spend more money later for being a cheap as- ;)
a. if going the projector route, recommendations on what brands are good and those that are not.

I am hoping for some first hand experiences that will guide me to the right choice the first time ;)

FYI: The aforementioned light film on the inside of the lenses is likely due to the outgassing of the plastic. (now you know where the film on the inside of new car windshields comes from). The outsides are excellent as is the rest of the truck, likely a garage queen with only 64K miles on it.

Another FYI: I have contributed a lot to several other forums where my knowledge is not so limited
Thanks again

I have a pair of Phillips Ex bulbs you can have. :D That was my first attempt at improving the low beams and they made no difference for me. Just my experience. (I have Quads BTW.)

My advice is to upgrade the low beams with led bulbs. If your lenses are damaged however, that's a different story.

7 years ago I found a low cost option from Novisight. It was included in 5 different internet reviews that I could find as a top 5 replacement option. $29 on Amazon so I gave it a shot. A month later I put them in my wife's car (projectors) and in my fog light housings. They are all still working fine.

I did not feel the need to change out the high beams. They worked fine.

So, that was years ago. I'm sure there are far more and better options today. Do your homework on anything you decide on and good luck.

PS I think this was the one I chose. I don't think it's available any longer.1730641440931.png

You've received excellent advice for your query.

Many of us have had excellent results with Fahren LED bulbs, the lower profile fits great but, avoid the higher profile unless you plan to replace the back cover on the housing.

Also, many users with your vintage of Ram truck have experienced intermittent flicker or dropouts.

Given that the earlier trucks suffer from this versus more recent models, I'd blame the trucks, not the LED bulbs. There is a fix.

The AlfaOBD app has successfully cured both intermittent flicker & dropouts by setting the headlights type to "High-Intensity Discharge Headlamps'.

The use of AlfaOBD will require a USB or Bluetooth dongle for the OBD2 port and a Windows computer or Android device.

AlfaOBD is not VIN locked, you can use it on any FCA vehicle.

AlfaOBD also has many other valuable tweaks.

I've been very pleased with several of the Fahren bulbs I've installed in my truck and a friend's car.

I wouldn't think twice about replacing both low & high beams asap and enjoying the great lighting.

I ended up with Fahren low beams & Auxito high beams, just because of the Amazon pricing at the time of my purchase.

Amazon has great deals on combo 4-packs if you require H11s and 9005s. Or, just 2 sets of 9005s are well-priced and include a 3-year replacement warranty (after registering online).

I apologize for not seeing the response sooner :( I'll swear I checked several times and saw no new responses. I have spent hours researching without first hand experiences/responses.
OK so I have a direction now. I cannot thank you enough

My only remaining question is on the Alfa OBD updating. What is required to do this.
I'm not an idiot but a bit challenged with technology. Likely has something to do with working 12 hour days 6.5-7 days a week supporting 4 employees that left scars that will never heal (one WAS a nephew). but that's a story for another day.
back on topic,
A couple of remaining questions
1.Was the example in the pic on high or low beam
2. Fog lamps? yes or no?
3. What is required to do the update?

Thanks again you guys made my evening

No worries, everyone gets busy, life has so many moving parts and, you're most welcome.

AlfaOBD is an app that can be purchased here for $49. You purchase it once and it includes free updates and no limitations of use. It's not VIN-locked like some other apps.

AlfaOBD is available for Android or Windows, your choice. I use Windows because I don't appreciate the Android operating system.

You will require an OBD2 interface to connect to your vehicle. Many users prefer the Bluetooth device, OBDlink MX+, I use a USB version, OBDlink SX because it's cheaper, faster and more reliable, AFAIC.

The OBDlink MX+ is on sale at Amazon for $112.
The OBDlink SX is on sale at Amazon for $40.

AFAIK, mrac's picture is with low beams.
My foglights are OEM LED but if they were incandescent, I would have updated them to LED.

There's an entire thread dedicated to AlfaOBD tweaks. The AlfaOBD thread contains 737 pages, and lots of reading. The search icon in the upper right corner might assist with searching anything specific.
