Lost the ability to use my second key fob. First one stopped working a long time ago but they both still work to start the truck. Thinking it was due to a bad battery, replaced in both fobs. I still can't unlock, lock, remote start or the use of the panic button. when I do hit one of the buttons, my dash lights up very faint but looks like the fob is still connecting to the truck. I’m using the basic key with 4 buttons. I don’t have the push button start option. Thinking of ordering a do it your self key and programmer but I wanted to make sure that I might be missing something? Any help or guidance is appreciated.

Typically it’s the fob. They can wear out and need replaced. Does your fob look like the pic below? The buttons could be worn out although I doubt all of the buttons would wear out at the same time. There could be a micro crack in the circuit board that renders it unusable or it could be your RF hub in the truck is bad.

Personally I’d take it to a locksmith that does vehicle entry fobs. By the time you invest money into new fobs and equipment to program them it would be about the same as paying a pro especially if it’s not the fobs but something else electrical. Locksmiths usually charge a flat fee if they can’t program a new fob which could be well worth your time instead of the frustration chasing a solution. If they can’t program a new fob you’ll know it’s something more in depth that needs repair.

Yes it is like the one shown in the picture. I will call around and see what a locksmith would charge me and go from there.

Buy Alpha ODB and program it yourself, No need to pay someone for such an easy DIY.
