2014 Tailgate Dropping. Anyone Else?

Curious..... I know there was a recall for the Ram 2015-2017 Tailgate Latch (Recall #U74) but I have a 2014 Express that's doing it.
At first, I'd be driving down the road and when the auto door locks kicked in, the tailgate would drop. Scares the crap out of me as I keep thinking I've been rear ended!
Now when I walk away from my truck and hit the door lock on the FOB the tailgate is dropping also. (and embarrassing...)

Is there anyone else with a 2014 that's having the same problem???

I think even if the recall didn't cover your truck I'd get the part and install it. I think when I bought the part is was under a dollar.

It was for 2018 as well. I think they try to "roll out" recalls to avoid being slammed fixing too many trucks at once. I got the small part and fixed it myself (very simple) but when I took the truck in for another recall they stacked another rubber block next to mine, then the gate wouldn't lock. Took the extra one out and it's fine now. BTW you can disable the auto lock on the uconnect screen, which may help in the mean time. I disabled mine early on.

Thats a bit of a problem for me Jay.
The small part you do need is a "recall" part and not for sale at the dealer.
I can't get one because my vehicle VIN/year is not in the recall.
I contacted a seller in the US (I'm from Canada) and they had one for $1 but wanted $26 for shipping!!!
Maybe I'll just unhook it......

BTW when I bought mine I just walked into the dealer parts dept and asked for the part number. Didn't mention anything about a recall. I've heard if you say you need a recall part they balk and wont sell it. It was .81 cents

The block is small, very easy to install. Videos online show it. Just remove the access panel (T-30 screws), slip a rubber boot back, insert the block, put the boot back in place, and screw the panel back on. I'll mail it later today.

I'm dropping it off at the post office in a regular envelope with the small rubber part inside a smaller one with 3 US stamps. Should be fine IMO.
