At the time that I ordered the truck, regretfully I did not order the air ride suspension. Is it possible to have factory air suspension installed after the fact?
I ask this because I would like it the work with the trucks factory 8.4/dash equipped programming V/S aftermarket equipment

Anything can be done with right allocation of funds. My thoughts would be more cost effective to add something like the wireless Air Lift system.

My $.02 is to look at what you want to accomplish with the air suspension and look at options that might be less maintenance down the road and maybe even less cost up front. Since this is towing section, I will guess you might want to level the ride when towing. Airbags are not the proper solution for that issue because they add zero towing capacity and mask improper weight distribution of truck and trailer.

You are absolutely correct. Evaluate needs, then evaluate solutions. He has a 3500 dually, so should have plenty of suspension depending on needs of course. My 3500 has the factory air leveling system and it works great.

If you’re wanting that integration to be like the factory-equipped air ride trucks then I would think the OEM kit is what you’d want but that’s probably gonna be expensive. As far as how the whole complete factory system would compare price-wise to this kit from Kelderman Air Ride, I have no idea but the Kelderman system might be the better bet because it’s aftermarket and will probably be easier to do yourself because the factory stuff probably won’t come with instructions and it’ll require a trip to the dealer to have all the appropriate sales codes entered so that your computer recognizes the system and then while you’re there, you’re going to have to have the system bled, vacuum tested and then charged with nitrogen because it’s a closed system.

At least with the Kelderman kit, it doesn’t use nitrogen, it uses compressed air which yeah, could cause you a problem in the winter time but at least it should be a system that’s easy enough to where you could easily add that airline additive to it that’ll keep it from freezing up on you.

The factory system was great being what it is but on the halfton‘s that have the four corner air ride, this is pretty much the same system and a lot of people have had a lot of problems with the system on the half tons.

On my 2018 Limited I added Airlift bags and my own 2 gallon on board air compressor with electric solenoid valves to fill or dump the bags whenever I want to. I wired it with a remote FOB that allows me to stand back with a loaded trailer and adjust the height to whatever I want.
On my father's 2018 Longhorn it came with the factory installed sealed system and you're limited on adjustability.
I'm glad I went the route I did. To boot I can fill tires off of my compressor too. Can't do that with the factory sealed system.

Thanks for all replies I appreciate them. I've been doing some homework and now have more direction. Regardless of decision something I find interesting is the response from dealership in my area was they could not perform the installation, (no explanation why), but could install an aftermarket system for approximately $2100.00....huh! At this point I think my choice is airbags, and open to suggestions as to manafacture. I haul a 4000lb. Lance camper with an enclosed trailer in tow for my HD.
Truck handles all this most excellent, but I have noticed the truck is starting to squat a bit. So all I'm after is to level the truck/camper.

I’m just curious but what kind of adjustability are you limited to on the factory system? The last I checked, when I was looking for a short while, into a three-quarter ton that had that rear ride before I bought my new half-ton, when I first thought I might want a 2500, I saw that they have that feature on there as well where you can let all the air out of the bags for easy loading and unloading of the bed or for hooking up to a trailer so, other than only being able to have your auto leveling up to a certain point so that you don’t overload the back of your truck, what can you do with your system that you can’t do with the factory system, other than having the ability to air up your own tires? Which yeah, that is cool but realistically, how often are you going to be doing that?… LOL.

Actually the compressor saved me and a friend a few times, usually trailer tires. I also use it to top off the 5th wheel airride pinbox on my camper and to blow out the water lines when traveling from FL back to NJ in the winter.
With my system I have infinite adjustability whenever I want. It also is for my airhorns. I also ran an air chuck into the rear corner of the bed through an existing hole under the trailer plug. You don't realize how often you'd use compressed air until it is at your disposal.
This is from another thread. I really need to make a walk around video to explain everything because not everyone will understand the setup and benefits and I don't want to write a novel. Lol

I did a complete 200psi onboard air system that I mounted up on the frame in between the front of the passenger side rear tire well and the cab. It came with a triple air horn that fit perfectly behind the front bumper on the passenger side. I also use the air for my rear bags. I wired dump & fill solenoids with a wireless remote fob so I can operate them in or out of the truck. I also utilized the garage door Homelink buttons too. I added an airline to the back corner on the bed with an air quick connect so I can fill my 5th wheel pinbox airbag.

Practically everything was from Amazon. The compressor kit, 50amp relay kit, air solenoids (3), Remote fob kit, 1/4" nylon airline, ect.... Might have $300 for everything into it. (Not including the Airlift rear bag kit.)

I don't know where they came up with $2100 but they are full of it. Go somewhere else like a truck accessory shop. See my post above. Put the system together myself practically all from Amazon. There are easier setups though, just look into AIRLIFT kits.
