I've had a set in my garage for years. I think they are and maybe one day I'll get around to installing them.

Expensive...but would be fun. The good ones are not cheap. Hard for me to justify a set...

I thought this was a sequel to Trains, Planes, and Automobiles, very funny movie...:D

I've always wanted to hook up a set so when a ******* in the left lane is going slow because they're texting I could get right next to them & blast it...

Compared to what people soend on exhaust, LED and other accessories, a couple hundred bucks for a horn is worth it.

I had a klein compact kit in my previous truck and then moved it to my miata. What fun it was.

You will startle them and they will probably hit you.

I did a complete 200psi onboard air system that I mounted up on the frame in between the front of the passenger side rear tire well and the cab. It came with a triple air horn that fit perfectly behind the front bumper on the passenger side. I also use the air for my rear bags. I wired dump & fill solenoids with a wireless remote fob so I can operate them in or out of the truck. I also utilized the garage door Homelink buttons too. I added an airline to the back corner on the bed with an air quick connect so I can fill my 5th wheel pinbox airbag.

Practically everything was from Amazon. The compressor kit, 50amp relay kit, air solenoids (3), Remote fob kit, 1/4" nylon airline, ect.... Might have $300 for everything into it. (Not including the Airlift rear bag kit.)

These are Nathan 5 Chime K5LA horns off of an Amtrak Locomotive. These are just sitting up here to show size. I can blow them with an air compressor. But to get full volume you need a lot of air. Not just pressure but volume. The inlet is 1/2 and optimum pressure is 130-140 PSI. You won’t get the volume of air to get the full effect with a cheap compressor and a small tank.
These are total overkill on a truck if you just want a loud horn. These are basically the largest real train horns you will find minus some physically larger Leslie SuperTyfon trains horns from older locomotives.
The trains I run have K5LA horns so I listen to these every day. The last thing I want is to hear them once I leave work! But they are LOUD.

I’m actually getting ready to purchase another set from mypushcart.com, I’ve put one all my 4x4’s. They have some of the best prices for complete kits and they have never failed. What’s nice is that they have oil-less compressor’s and can be mounted in any manner. I would purchase the 1/2” line, upgrade a bigger compressor and larger tank if you want to get the maximum air flow and get the true sound out of the horn’s. If you call them they can answer all your question’s and for 300-400 dollar’s the are a great horn set up.

If you aren't going to use them I will be happy to pay shipping costs to send them to me. I'll put them on my big truck.

Neighbor had air horns on his truck for years. Very tempting to use them in situations where needed BUT one day he was followed home and threatened by a guy who he 'horned'. Another time he used it the people got his plate number, state patrol showed up at his home and wrote him a ticket. He has since removed them before someone kicks his ass.

Nothing says "I have a tiny schmeckle I need to over compensate for" than train horns in a passenger vehicle.

Nothing says moron more than the idiot that swerves into my lane while they're wearing headphones and driving! Or the idiot backing out of a spot aimed right for your passenger door and claimed they didn't see a 4 door dually parked in the spot next to them.
Yes, air horns work! Regardless of the size of a schmeckle, whatever that is.

And the standard horn that came on your truck would work just the same.

Perhaps when you blast that train horn, scare the life out of that moron driving, they swerve over into the other lane and kill an entire family you'll think twice about attempting to show off your manhood through the volume of your horn. Or you'll say "I showed that moron, sorry about the dead kids" and carry on with your day. I don't know, I just know there is no place for train horns on the street. You can always google the word schmeckle if you're curious, but I imagine you can probably figure it out just by using some context.

I did work for a few Peterbilt dealership, and saw a few pairs mounted to pickups and big rigs. Hooked up to shop air they were fairly epic, but on road rides were rarely worth more than bragging rights.

They can be temperamental in general, with weather and lack of use being contributing factors.

They can be ticket and rage magnets. Most jurisdictions have phrases like "activity on a roadway that is likely to distract, startle, or interfere with other users of the roadway" on the books to allow law enforcement to engage you, and to help insurance companies to find you liable should any shenanigans becomes costly or deadly.

Your scenario can happen with any horn so it is void.
You're assuming and confusing USE with Abuse. There's a time and place for everything. That goes for airhorns too. That place is on my trucks. And I don't abuse it. The ones I install (pictured previously) are no louder or disturbing than any big rig. Sometimes people need that "big rig" attention.
But it's fine we don't agree.

Gentlemen,

Remain civil with one another. We all have our opinions and it is fine to express them. Just because someone disagrees with you doesn't mean you should start calling them names.
