I want to share my experience with low oil pressure. Truck is 2015 with 5.7 hemi and 200k miles. I got a check engine light indicating vvt was shut down due to low oil pressure (something I don’t pay attention to). Pressure was dropping to 30-35psi range. I had used stp oil filter and Costco 5-20 synthetic oil about 8k miles ago. Got a K&M filter and Mobil 1 oil. Filter was a lot larger and I was concerned I may have gotten the wrong filter. Checked gasket diameter and it was same so I used it.
After oil and filter change the oil pres at idle is 55psi!! A 20psi increase. Cel has cleared.
I was worried I may need new oil pump or motor……. Happy day.
