Hi everyone,

I’m pretty new to the truck world. I recently purchased a 2018 1500 Sport(Night Edition). I have the 5.7L Hemi.

I wanted to remove the chrome tips and put on black. I have gotten several different answers from people on what size inlet to get. I talked to a guy at Carid who told me it is 2.25 inlet and I’ve seen in other forums where people say 2.5 and even 3.

Can anyone give me a definitive answer to make sure I get the right tips ordered.

Thanks everyone!

2.25 is stock size for dual tails.
2.5 & 3.0 would be aftermarket.

And you can have those stock tips powdercoated, unless you are looking to upgrade to 5” tips, which look awesome

I was reading about the powder coating and saw some had issues with the heat. I am looking to upgrade, was hoping to get 4 or 5 inch. Unfortunately there aren’t a ton to choose from with stock 2.25 inlet.

I like that look. Did you take yours to a shop to get done? It’s probably the cheaper option of the too I’m guessing, which I also like.

Great look!
Exhaust any louder with the 5inch tips on?

I have heard this is true but I recently purchased this as the second owner and it already had these tips so can’t compare. He already had a Flowmaster 40 and stock resonators, I swapped the 40 for a Super 10 and removed the resonators. It’s loud.

Is it worth spending the extra money for the Carven or Flowmaster brand or are they just the same as the cheaper kinds found on amazon or ebay?

I can’t compare to the less expensive alternatives, however the Carven appear to be constructed very well and the fit is perfectly aligned in the bumper cutouts.

if I were considering the less expensive alternatives, I would expect that any general complaints may be how they fit on the pipes and through the bumper cutouts. Just speculating at this point.

I've got about 80,000 miles and 5 years of ownership on my Carven R. It sounds just as awesome as the first day in my opinion. It's only now that I'm looking for a full 3" exhaust to complete the rest of my upgrades.
