Looking for new tires. Currently have the original Firestones. Don't want anything owned by Good Year. Looking for quality and not too aggressive but slightly more aggressive than the Firestones on it. 99% of my driving is on paved roads. Figuring about $1200 out the door but can go higher if I need to. Want factory size too. Truck is 100% stock with factory 20" wheels.

I have never been disappointed in Michelin/ BFG.
I was looking at K02's. My son had a truck identical to mine and had K02's and he got about 50,000 miles out of them

One of the few truck tires that give mileage guarantee.

Michelin is hard to beat for a strictly highway tire. I've been running a 4-season (NOT all-season) with a snowflake rating which is nice if you do any winter driving. I don't know that they are any better in the snow but from a liability standpoint I'd hate to be in a wreck in the mountains with the wrong equipment. I'm on my second set from Les Schwab but will try elsewhere next time as everything at LS seems to have gotten ridiculously expensive. I got about 55K miles on the first set and should get at least that on the current set (slightly different product). America's Tire has been great with price and selection for two other vehicles I've put tires on lately.

My next set is going to be the toyo open country at3. Have Mickey Thompson atz p3 but doubt I’ll make the 45,000 mile mark on them but I am an aggressive driver so that may be my fault. Unfortunately they discontinued the atz p3 because I did like them. Very quiet and decently aggressive. But I’m also in Florida so no snow worries however they are M+S rated even though that doesn’t mean much.

If 99% of your driving is on pavement I do not see the point of getting a more aggressive tire. The blockier the tread, the shorter the tread life. Since you need to replace the Firestones at 20,000 miles all you are seeing is that OEM tires are crap. The same tire after market will run easily twice that long, but I am not a Firestone fan at all. If it were me, I would be looking for the highest miling tire for your specific use, do you get snow or ice much, since there is no off road component. I would be looking at the Michelin line given what you have told us so far.

There are 28,000 on mine and I could probably get another 10,000 if I push it but with winter coming and the cash sitting here I figured I'd get them now. I don't want an all weather tire due to the snow and wet grass. We tow a 9000lb boat and when in grass sometimes need 4x4 to get out when the grass is wet. I'd be ok with the aggressiveness of the Firestones but want just a little more traction

I understand putting on the new tires for winter. If there is 10,000 miles left, I would put those back on for the next summer. With respect to more traction, have the Firestones ever failed to move the truck in 4x4? because like I said before, blockier tread will wear faster, there is no way around that unless you go to an overly hard compound.

I would still recommend the Michelin line for longest tread life. Michelin is what I run on my wife's 4x4 vehicle, currently a Grand Cherokee, as hers never goes off pavement and is 80% around town. Even with using the Michelin snow tires year round and over the summer on her previous vehicle, it doesn't get all that hot here, they still run 60,000 miles a set.

Never had an issue in 4wd. But aside from 28,000 miles on them they are dry rotting a little. I only put about 6000 miles a year on it (I work from home) so even if I get 40,000 out of a set they will likely be dry rotted before they go bald.
I like Michelins and would definitely take a look at those. I think my wifes Subaru had Michelins from the factory. We have Yokohamas on it now and they have been good too.

Falken WildPeak AT3w LT’s have given me the best results of any tire in my experience. Quiet for an AT and capable with great aesthetics. I can only offer my experience with them. Installed in May 2018 @14k mi iirc now I am nearing 80k mi. Currently measure 12/32nds. Rotated every oil change, 5k.

If you can drive in the snow you will be fine with Michelin defenders, but you don't put the mileage on so may not be worth it.

From the sounds of it you don't "need" an agressive AT but might be ok as again the mileage/life vs years is not an issue for you.

Calling around now. Pretty much narrowed down to the Yokohama Geolander AT, the Toyo Open Country AT3 and the Falken Wildpeak AT3 but looks like Falken is in with Goodyear? If so that is a deal breaker for me on Falken. But sounds like a goofy partnership?
Local dealer has the Yokohamas for $1539 out the door. Falkens are $1599 out the door and Toyos are $1615 out the door

I believe they are under Firestone the last time I looked.

edit: Falken is owned by Sumitomo
