When you first start truck in the morning, cold truck is fine with not sounds. When truck warms up, it sounds like marbles spinning around in transmission when in drive at a dead stop, but no rattling in neutral and some rattling in park. Once you take off and truck shifts to second, rattle/marbles go away in higher gears. Some hard shifting and will not go into MDS mode. Any help or thoughts? Thanks

First things first, get a scan tool connected to this truck and take a look at the CVI's and see what is happening with the clutches. If the CVI's are elevated or sky high then we know we have an internal clutch problem.

Can you have someone sit inside the truck with the engine running, parking brake set and foot on the brakes and operate the shifter while you roll around underneath and try to pinpoint the noise?

In the rfe the fluid spins in neutral and not in park. So you have some type of issue when fluid is stagnant. If it were me I would be taking off trans pan and at a minimum do a flush. If you opt for that, search rfe filter options and fluid. It is a little hard to nail down from the peanut gallery because much of the usual suspects such as torque converter usually display different symptoms. Could actually be MDS. I would get someone down there and isolate the location, engine versus trans versus in-between the two.

Thank you for the reply. I've been out of town due to a family illness. I will try thw scan and get under nearh and check to see if I can narrow down the sound after I get it scanned. Thank you for the advice.

Thank you for the reply. Sorry for the delay. Been out of town due to family illness. I am going to try and look at it this week. Your advice is greatly appreciated.

I do not. Going to see if I can borrow one. If not, guess I'll just purchase one.
Good scan tools are not cheap but if you do some research and use your
Google-fu Jedi mind you can find some really good, quality equipment for sale at affordable prices.

There are quite a few SnapOn Solus Ultra's available on eBay right now and I saw one a few minutes ago for sale for $849 with cables and charger and the latest 21.4 update. If I didn't already have a SnapOn Zeus I would buy it in a hurry. My first new SnapOn scan tool was a Solus Ultra and it was a quality, reliable tool for me for years.

I do have an Autel Maxisys Ultra on the way. I have used some of the smaller Autel scan tools in the past and they have worked really well for what I do and what I found with the Autel units is that they would do things my SnapOn would not which was a nice surprise.
