For ***** & giggles I was on Rams Website doing the "Build a Price" thing. Please don't tell my wife! But I noticed prices across the board were 3-4,000 cheaper than when I purchased my 2016 Outdoorsman 2500. A Power Wagon can be had for 50,000 now as they were nearly 55,000 back in 16.
Hmmm... with that much difference I wonder if I could get a new truck at the same payment I am at now? Seriously all... don't tell my wife! :naughty:

I'd imagine the price may go down even more on 2019 HDs if the 5th gens are scheduled to be 2020 MY launch.

The 2019 1500s go on sale at the end of this month and have a max tow rating of 12,750 lbs... what will the HDs bring!?

I've heard the HD refresh was moved back to 2021 due to the manufacturing change from Mexico to Michigan. Can still hope for some powertrain updates in the meantime, but probably not. Was disappointed they didn't bump the 5.7 numbers any but I have read repeatedly that the 6.4 will get an update soon.

The prices actually increased slightly for 2018, as they do every year. You could have bought a power wagon tradesman for 50k in 2016. 50750 actually. 2018 is 51695.

Unfortunate they didn't bump 5.7 numbers. But they may have something in the works for the near future. As out dated as most think the 5.7 is (and it is pretty archaic compared to what we see hitting the market now), it still holds it's own. Which is very impressive. It's not stressed or high strung. Recently a family member of mine bought a new 5.7 1500. He couldn't get over how smooth the 5.7 was with the 8 speed. Said it was the best drive train he has ever had. Now it's not like he has owned a Bentley, but still.

I would like to drive a new 5.7 with the "eTorque" and see how much it helps on accelleration, and this stop start (which I usually despise).

I don't mind them holding off on the HD version an extra year, gives me more time before I have to get the wife on board for buying a new truck if it's worth it lol. If I trade, I will wait till prob the 2nd MY of the run.

It is a little more than what I was thinking I seen yesterday but still way lower than when I was looking into it at the very end of 2015. With rebates, & all of the options I would want the 2018 PW is at 52,375. At the end of 2015 when I was looking the PW set up as I would like it was 55,425.

Not sure if it's already the one you are looking at, but you can get a Tradesman with the "Power Wagon" package. This includes every functional piece that comes on the actual Power Wagon trim. I believe that package plus a few options can be had for $45k. Obviously will be missing creature comforts of the Laramie.
