Hoping to get some advise.

Truck is at 110 000kms

Was getting a fuel cap light and started getting a fuel smell in my cab when I'd start the truck and idle. Started to read about the fuel canister and purge valve so i changed those out with dorman parts. Dash light went away, didnt notice the smell anymore.

1 month later temp gauge started bouncing over the half way mark on the gauge. Had it checked out and the driver side head was leaking coolant, mechanic said its most likely been for awhile but slowly. Had the gasket replaced. The collant luckuly wasnt mixing with the oil so it was just an external leak. Problem went away but for the next 2 weeks was getting a strong smell in the cab almsot like burnt oil. Brought it back it to mechanic he said no issue there was just excess oil burning off. But nothing leaking.

I also had brought up that this winter the Hemi tick was starting but would go away intermitently. I asked him to check the exhasut manifold bolts but he said that noise was coming from the purge valve. They noticed when changing the head gasket.
I figured maybe the purge valve i replaced was defective. So had him change that part again but it never fixed the issue at all.

Im also still getting a smell in the cab at idle. So im convinced its the exhaust manifold bolts and its leaking underneath the truck and being pulled through the cabin.

What do you think?
Any suggestions of whats going on?

Im ready to take it to a second mechanic, but ive already spent 3600.00 on the truck and want to just get the issues fixed.

When the engine is cold, reach in through the wheel wells and grab the coners of the heat shields. If they're loose, broken bolts it is.

If they are loose and you feel the body of the bolt attached to the underside of the shield, the bolt is most likely broken flush with the cylinder head. If you only seem to feel the thickness of a nut under the shield, you likely hae a stub sticking out of the cylinder head. Much easier to remove bolts broken like this.

Bolts broken flush with the head are best removed by welding a washer and nut to the broken bolt.

Please post what you find out.
