Just purchased a 2018 Ram 1500 quad cab 4x4. Drove the gas tank to empty with only 25 kilometers to empty (from Canada)

I filled up and could only squeeze 89 litres. My build sheet says 26 gallon tank and under options it says additional 4.5 gallons. Based on my math it appears that I was able to fuel up 23.75 gallons. So now I am confused. Is my tank a 26 gallon tank or a 29.5 gallon tank?

Has anyone come across this and if so please shed some light on this for me

many thanks

You have a 26 gallon tank. The extra fuel on the build sheet is the fuel they put into the tank before delivery to the dealer.

As above it's fuel in the tank. The miles to empty is on the cautious side, but it sounds like it's pretty close. Probably still a gallon in the tank at zero.

You must have the bigger tank. It's an optional extra.

Yup, 32 gallon tank was an option for many trim levels. The new 5th gens have a 33 gallon option.

Then you have the 32 gallon tank. You must either have an accurate gauge, or you drove around for a LONG time on E. Even after driving 80 miles after my 0 miles warning came up I was only able to put in around 28 gallons (highway driving towing around 7k lbs).

At least yours is somewhat accurate. On my old '13 I had the 32 gallon tank, but the gauge was programmed for a 26 gallon tank. It could be on dead E with 0 miles to empty, I could drive another 50 miles and only pump about 28 gallons in. Was the weirdest thing.
