Hi - My horn just went from a blast to a squeek. I could replace the twin stock horns with the same thing but after reading about the issues so many others experienced and my overall disappointment with them as they were I'd like to upgrade to something with a bit more teeth. My preference would be something that doesn't require an air compressor or other add on - just something that is swap and go - is in the lower range of soundwaves (a coast guard lighthouse fog horn would be my friend here but I am not a millionaire) would be perfect for getting the attention of the 16 year old listening to his music way too loud and about to skateboard into the crosswalk or similar. If any of you have done this already and have some good recommendations I would be grateful for them. Thanks ahead of time and Happy Thanksgiving!

I suspect you will be challenged to locate a fog horn note that doesn't have a compressor.

A large part of the impact of the 'fog horn note' is from the sound volume level created with a compressor.

A shy or meek sounding 'fog horn note' might come across as laughable.

Also, some counties have bylaws limiting the volume level of horns.

Many members who have added a loud horn to wake up those not paying attention, either add an auxiliary trigger switch on the dash and maintain a traditional horn as a default, or add an additional 'loud horn' selection switch.

This allows selective use of the 'wake up' horn, outside of certain municipal boundaries or when it's required.

Too many drivers take offense to a quick horn chirp reminder when they don't notice a light changing to green or at the gas pumps line.

Imagine their reaction if the reminder was loud enough to cause them to drop a brick.

Please don't take this the wrong way because while I might totally agree with this application, blaring a horn at cross walks might not win too many popularity contests.

And, welcome to Ram Forum.
