Hello All.
I have ran into a small problem. My MoM just got a 2021 Ram 1500 Classic. She is older and on the heavy side.
she needs running boards to safely climb in and out of the cab. I am looking a set that is as cheap ( But SAFE) as I can get for her. I have already been on Amazon and found serval, However I can not find a set that says 100% " This fits you truck" Her budget is 300.00 or less and has to be something we can install in her driveway. If anyone can point me in the correct direction I will be grateful for the help. They don't have to look cool or anything like that, Just easy to install and safe to use

Thanks for your time

I had a set of Tyger steps that were very solid, mounted to the rocker and the pinch weld, don’t remember exactly but believe they were around 250.00$.
I ended up switching to power steps, just for the look, had no complaints with the brand. I sold them for 100.00$.

I concur with the previous poster’s. Look at a local Salvage yard, FB Market Place, eBay, and Craigslist. Look for a OEM take off set.

Even some dealers have them around. Taken off of trucks, where the buyer wanted power steps, or no steps.

I am 255 pounds couldn't break these if I tried. These were like 169 bucks on eBay, point being any of those eBay tubes will work. If you have a crew cab even better you will have 3 attachment points. I would however opt for a flat one and not the 3 inch, these are 4 inch tubes, I would get the flat ones at least 6 inch for an old lady. just a quick look shop around, but like these. See if amazon sells them, it is good to have reviews.

Thanks guys. I will call around a few junk yards around here. tbh there are not a lot of scrap/junk yards around and Craigslist is no help (That's within a 100miles)
I going to check ebay. thanks again for the input

I don't think that "Cheap" would be a qualifier if I was looking for something for my overweight mother...I'd stay with "Strong"....

I've bought 2 sets for 2 different trucks and went with ebay/amazon for both. Tube style on the old truck and a more square tube with a wider flat step for the PW. Both have been rock solid. I assume these are made in the same factory as the name brands but sold in a plain box. I figured I could buy 2 or 3 sets of the cheap ones if I had to and be money ahead over name brand.

The factory one is very good, I have them on my
crewcab. Strong, nice flat step. See if you can find them on Ebay or a wrecker, as mentioned. It looks like the one pictured will also work. Steps are a good thing.

Here is the chuckle of the day, I recall an older
guy around here with a Dodge pickup, high step
in, he carried a small step ladder with him and had a rope attached so he could pull it in................
