Proud to say my wife and I spent this past week camping in the back of my truck. We went from NC to the Anirondack mountains in NY. Beautiful country, all through the mountains looking at numerous waterfalls, over to Niagara waterfall's, down Lake Ontario and Lake Erie, can't remember all the places. Made a round trip of almost 2600 miles. Averaged 18 mpg according to the evic which in my opinion was great since we were hauling around 1000 lbs and mountains like you wouldn't believe. I used 87 octane going and 89 octane coming back, would love to say I could tell a difference power or mpg wise but I couldn't. I know that's not what most people want to hear but I can only judge from my own experience, sometimes I wonder if they are selling the same gas in all 3 octane ratings and just fooling us, lol. The truck with near 140,000 miles on it never missed a stroke. If you've never been to the Anirondacks and you ever get a chance it's well worth it!
I have to add how great it was for a week not to have not 1 "little boy" pull into a gas station with his music up loud while getting gas, not having to see not 1 "little boy's" underwear with his pants hanging to his knees and not 1 broke back mountain looking truck with his rear bumper near the ground! I loved it!

Looks like the 2021 camping season is over for most.

Very disappointed overall with this season. Some of the best trips yet for us...but the overall environment was annoying at best this year.

Not sure how many campgrounds trips we will do next year...hoping to make them 90% Into the forest. The public makes me anxious any more.

Well...for the end if our regular season camping we took a 155 mile dirt road trip through central Pennsylvania. Went through 3 State Forests...Rothtock Bald eagle and Tiadaghton.Screenshot_20211105-210559.png

Snapped some vista pics and had a great 7hrs in the wilderness.

Very nice pictures! We winterized our camper the end of September. Had a permanent site this year and surprisingly it was dead most weekends so it was pretty nice. Definitely didn't get to see any scenery like that though!

Awesome for you both, i bet it was very great time. i am little farther north than where you were, Ontario. That is exactly the type of camping I wish to do next year, back of my truck. I cannot pull any kind of trailer, that i like, with my Ram reg cab short bed, so I have been looking at truck bed tents. I am looking forward to enjoying just like you and your wife did.

Awesome pics guys...thanks for sharing. Beautiful country. PA has some beautiful forests that's for sure.

I winterized the end of October after our last trip. Just have to put the moth balls in it and then she'll be asleep until the April dewinterization and full in and out cleaning before next years camping season.

The state parks were annoyingly crowded late into the season this year again, same as last year with tons of marylanders. It is so bad now, this last trip I saw several class A motorhomes, large travel trailers and large 5th wheels in non electric sites, running generators. Sure loved hearing that noise. Just plain crazy. Still enjoyed it, but hate how many people are camping now. It does take some of the enjoyment out of it...but not enough to quit, yet.

We'll see what next year brings as this pandemic is still hanging on going on two years now almost. I'm done with it, personally.

Yeah, roger that brother. I just hope next year we actually do get back to normal, whatever the new normal is anyway.

Wife and I have been full timing it for a year now. Did a long trip from Florida to “out west” this summer and loved it. A few pics attached. The flag pic was at The Badlands in SD, on a July 4th hike

Appreciate the comments, guys. Our trip was 7,000+ miles and we took almost 4 months to do it. The Custer area of South Dakota was our favorite, like a postcard in every direction. Don’t let anything stop you from going, 250-350 miles a day makes it easy. Our America is vast and beautiful!

We did a 2600 mile trip in the Adirondack Mountain State Park in upstate New York over to Niagra Falls and back home in 7 days. Kind of a rushed trip but we had a blast. If you've never been to the Adirondacks you owe it to yourself to do it. Made me understand why anyone I've met in my life that said they was from New York made sure they said "Upstate", I now know why!
