Guys,

Just purchased this truck in Canada few months back and only getting 13MPG or roughly 18 L/10"km. Truck has 30,000km ( Canadian. Mileage ). Could there be an issue with the engine?. I live in area where there's hills everywhere but I really watch by not pressing the gas peddle aggressively.

That's about normal for me, city driving with M/T type tires, in a the part of the country where there are a lot hills and they put alot ethenol in the gas.

I average about 13.5 commuting 5 miles each way to work.

About 17 hwy, on the rare occasion I take a long trip.

not sure if I'm understanding you. 13MPG is roughly 18litres per 100 km.. 20mpg is roughly 11.5 litres per 100 km so that better. You're saying you'd like to have lower MPG? Not sure if I'm understand ing. Ammo missing something

Temperature and terrain can significantly reduce your mileage.

I drive mainly on rural highways with only a small amount of city roads. Lately, the average mileage on the EVIC indicates 14.5 mpg, IIRC. That's while driving conservatively on mainly flat terrain with only a few spirited accelerations.

The recent temperatures here have been between 4°C (39°F) and -6°C (21°F).
If you're driving in mountainous terrain and getting 13 mpg, that sounds pretty usual for cooler temperatures.
What have your ambient temperatures been lately?

My drives consist of 5-15 minute daily drives - 4-6 times per day. All the roads here in white rock are 6-10 degree slopes during each drive. I hit 10-15 stops sign/ligjts . Small city with lots of hills. I'm running 87 octane . 3.92 with 275/55/20 all season tires . Truck has 40,000km. I'm getting between 19-18 litres / 100 km in city and this is making me question if there's anything wrong with my truck or it's just the area/ trips I make daily. I've taken one long trip with this truck and I was around 15litres /100km on highway going roughly 110
Km her hour for about 4 hours

All advise is appreciated

I have same setup in my truck ('19 Longhorn). I'm doing same kind of driving. With similar results on mileage.

Check the basics in yours. Get in a parking lot with slight slope, then stop and put truck in neutral, take foot off brake and make sure truck will roll freely with nothing dragging.

Tune up items should all be fine, with the total miles being low. But even still, I'd run some fuel injector cleaner in the gas. Then make sure fluids in diffs and transfer case are all sparkling clean. If not, replace with high quality synthetics. Experiment with tire pressures too. Air filter likely needs replacing, if it hasn't been already.

For your area and the short trips you're making, you're actually getting very good milege.
BTW 89 is the reconmended fuel, not 87,and you might pick up a bit of milege running 89,you could even try a couple tanks of 91 and see how it does .If you do try a better fuel, after you've ran one tank of the good fuel through the truck, disconnect the battery for an hour, step on the brakes for a minute or 2 to drain the system, then reconnect the battery. That'll reset the engine and transmission adaptives so it learns the new fuel quicker

What Wild said. ^^^^^^. Heavy vehicle, lots of stops, hills, cold weather, mileage suffers. The more ethanol, the worse the mileage too. I tried my wife's 5.7 GC, averages 21 mpg in town and 30 mpg on the highway using 87 Octane, which is much better than the 1500 with the 5.7, on 87, 89 and 91. Higer Octane made zero difference around town. The 91 picked up a couple mpg on the highway but not nearly enough to pay for the 50 cent a litre, 40% more, difference in price.

that is about what I get in town, and while I don't floor the peddle, I usally keep the tack close to 1500-2K on short trips .
Summer time on flat HI way with no wind ( not the usual here) i have got 10 L/100km at 115-120km / 70mph or so. In town 30mph/50km

I have never checked with paper and calculator, and WTH its way better then the 2010 Winter time it changes quite a bit. Hemi /8 sp same gears.

My 2016 Ram with the 5.7 Hemi 4x4 running in 2wd reports that it gets 10 litres per 100 km when I am running on a flat Alberta Hwy at a steady 100km/h. I am happy with the fuel economy for the vehicle. I do check my engine air filter each oil change and replace as needed. I run a Hey style tire in the warm months and Blizzacks in the winter. I notice it I pass a car my reported fuel use jumps to 17-19 liters per 100 km then once I am steady speed at 100 km it’s back to normal. Even driving at a steady speed but at 120 km/h ups the fuel burn to around 13-14 liters per 100 km.
