Hey all, new to the forum! I just bought my first Ram. It’s a 2022 White Ram 1500 Limited Night Edition. Beautiful truck, great features, but I got to say for a $75,000 truck I am very disappointed in the paint job. The truck has about 600 miles on it and already decent size to extremely small rock chips all over the bumper. I added some touch up paint to these areas and when I went to sand down the dried touch up paint I applied I ended up getting down to primer with no effort at all in a few spots where the sand paper happened to extend past the touchup areas. I was extremely surprised. Prior to owning a Ram I had a White Nissan Titan and the paint job was 10x better on a truck that cost 20k less. I don’t think I have ever had a car or truck with a factory coat this thin ever, and I’ve owned quite a few vehicles in the past 10 years. Is this normal? I am having to look at spending 2000 to see about getting these touch ups I did professionally redone and adding a much thicker clear coat to the bumper so that a rock the size of a toothpick tip doesn’t chip paint down to primer. Quite frankly I am concerned on how long this factory paint job is going to last. It must have 1 thin coat of clear coat on it. For 75,000 seems ridiculous to be looking at going to a body shop to add a thick layer of clear coat to the bumper.
