Today it was 11 degrees when I went outside. I got in my truck and looked to see what the temp was. It said 48 degrees, I looked at the temp on my phone it said it was 11 degrees. My truck is facing the sun, so I figure this caused the difference. While I was driving the temp went to 55 degrees on the radio. I know there might be a little bit of difference from where my phone gets it weather to where I am in my truck, but that 40 or so degrees is a lot.
I figure it is the placement of the sensor, I am just not sure where the sensor is.

Thanks Mike

In the outside drivers side view mirror. Unless it was changed for 2025 tho doubt that.

FYI: That sensor is important, tied into ambient temp controls and dual climate: When outside temp 40 degrees and lower, it sends signal to computer modules activates the convenience features, such as heated steering wheel, mirrors, seats, if you have enabled in U Connect controls.

That is what caused me to look at the outside temp. Normally my heated seats and steering wheel would be on at this temp. Yesterday and this morning I noticed they didn't come on. I figure because the sun.
If it is in the drivers side mirror then I might stop backing in when I park. The sun shines on that side of the truck for most of the day.

Sun might do it, guess, LOL. Just like how vehicle parked you will see deviations on like air pressure on different tires, just science. Drivers mirror is where that sensor for RAM/DODGE been forever.

FROM ANOTHER RAM FORUM:
I agree it is not the best place for it but every vehicle I have had reads high when I first get in if it has been sitting in the sun. Now how fast it adjust and reads accurate is another thing. The location on the bottom of the drivers rear view mirror is terrible as said the whole thing gets heat soaked. that black plastic just heats it up. On another not I survived a lot of years not knowing the outside temp via my car. I think we are getting way too spoiled with all the gadgets and tech.

I have a 2025 Laramie. Same problem. It was 65 degrees outside the other day and when I got into the truck, the display said it was 99 degrees. Very frustrating only because like you've pointed out, the outside temp reading dictates how the interior climate control functions. If you want to remote start the truck and have climate control, heated seats and heated steering wheel warming it up, probably won't happen if the truck thinks it's warm outside instead of actually being cold.
It would be nice if there was a factory fix or work around that made the ambient temp sensor more accurate.

I have the same issue on a new 2025 Sport. Had it 4 weeks and ambient temp is always reading high. Dealer checked codes, no codes. Software up to date. Said they replaced the sensor and still issues. Service manager said they will send in a request to Stellantis engineering to find out what our next step is. Don’t expect anything back.

Has anyone managed to fix the issue?

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting on a fix. In my case the cause is the way the sun comes up , and how I park my truck. If I pull into my spot my drivers side mirrors out of the direct sun most of the day, and it reads closer to real temp. If I back in the drivers side mirror is in the direct sun, and it reads high.

Direct sun on mirror is not the issue. I park in my garage. Temp seems to always reading 45 degrees hotter than actual outside temp.

Some vehicles (read your owner’s manual......) display the ambient temperature that was recorded when the vehicle was shut off, and the current ambient temperature will not display until the vehicle is driven a specific distance, and at or above a specific speed.

If you think there is an issue - isn’t the vehicle still covered under the new-car warranty?

Alrighty I just looked in the OM, and didn't see anything about this. I just figure it is caused by the sun being bright and shiny on a black plastic mirror case. The vehicle is under warranty, but I will bet they will replace the sensor, then say we have to raise the concern to the mother ship, and they won't do anything about it because?

I have no faith in the mother ship fixing the little issues I have on my truck. I have brought it into service, they see the issues, they document the issues, they call the mother ship, and hear nothing in return. I call the mother ship and they say bring it into the dealer, they will not take a customer complaint, even when there is a star case opened by the dealer about the issue.

Little things I know can be fixed pretty easy seem to brother me more then other things, that I know will take awhile.

When the vehicle has been parked for a longer period (overnight?) - see if the ambient temperature display becomes accurate after driving the vehicle for several miles at mid or high level speeds (not slow, stop-and-go traffic).

Thanks, have tried that and still reading high. when its very cold out it seems to read closer to actual, but as the temp warms here, the reading increase significantly from actual air temp. Waiting for the Service Manager to get back to me on what Stellantis says. Not holding my breath on a response though.
