Hello, I am going to try to go through a Lemon Law attorney soon. Ram Retention will not authorize a buy back and instead wants to send my truck to a Second dealership to try and solve the issue. My truck has had a service appointment every week that I have owned it. It has been in the shop 5 times now and she wants to send it a 6th time for the same Check Engine light problem.
Has anyone been successful with a buy back or getting Stellantis to work with you?

Thanks

I doubt Ram is just going to buy it back, they will continue to try and fix it. With that said, once you "lawyer up" they will likely stop all communications. Just make sure you meet all the criteria of your states lemon laws before you push that button.

Thanks, it’s sad that we want to work with them. We like the vehicles and brand. However they won’t move unless pushed.

They want to work with you as well, just not the way you want. You want a buy back, they want to fix it. I do believe going to another dealer is worth a shot if you still want the truck though. I probably would have gone to another dealer after the second atempt to fix it myself. Not all service departments are created equal.

What exactly is the issue, what codes is it throwing?

A second or third or fourth dealer may be worth the search .
You may locate a shop with someone who has the knowledge and ability to fix what the first dealer obviously has NO clue.
It’s sad that this is the world today.

The next dealership is 45 min away. They don’t offer loaners either. I am also upset because my Carfax is going to be hosed. A 6th service visit in 1200 miles is kind of crazy imo.

Has the dealership said what they have replaced or attempted to do? This was a problem with the TRX. Usually was a disconnected hose from ether adding cold air intact or improper QC inspection. Could be a bad PCV.

They replaced a sensor and intake gaskets.

Those don't seem like "bad codes" to warrant a lemon law claim. Not all dealers have good techs/service departments. Module could be a wiring issue. Does your insurance cover car rentals? You could go through your insurance and have them duke it out with the dealer/stellantis. If it was me I would be replacing the systems from the ground up, New harness for module and new module. PCV is somewhat easy to diagnose... a smoke machine could pinpoint a leak or not connected hose quickly.

We asked Stelantis to buy back our 2022 diesel 1500 after 7 months in the shop and they refused. Keep letting the dealer ( dealers even better) try and after 2-3 months out of service your failure to comply with Lemon Law will result in a lofty penalty as well as the re-purchase in full. Ram cares can approve rentals but you have to beg and they won’t direct bill but do reimburse most of the cost.
It takes over a year for the hearings and about 8 months to get paid after settlement. These issues like mine could be fixed but it’s apparent a few lawsuits are easier for them than dedicating more back end research for a few issues.

I worked with Stalantis and Customer Care for months and two dealers until my issue was fixed. I had a tech bulletin done twice, once by each dealer and finally an older tech took the time to fully research and fix the issue. I lost use of the truck for 4 months over this period. Stelantis compensated me for this loss of use at the end Been a great truck.

As you look through the responses, remember that each state has its own Lemon Law, and the laws vary from state to state. If you haven't yet, read through Virginia's Motor Vehicle Warranty Enforcement Act.

If a lemon lawyer took the case, it is likely near 100% they will win the case. YThey only get paid if they win, so they don't take loser cases. It is cut and dry, if you qualify based on local law, you win. I had a pretty thin case, to be honest I filed it just because I was upset at dealer for refusing to fix a small item, ended up settling 13k. They don't want to see a judge, you will have to wait, but you will likely get paid.

If you satisfied either of these, you win, if you don't, you lose.

If you have tried unsuccessfully to have your new vehicle (purchased in Virginia) repaired three or more times for the same problem, or the vehicle has been out of service for more than thirty days in one year, your vehicle may be classified as a lemon under the Virginia Motor Vehicle Warranty Enforcement Act.
