2012 1500 ran fine parked over weekend now won’t start with service trailer brakes message and red light flashing on dash. Went thru different steps and found leaving the fob in the ignition for 30 mins allowed it to start but sitting over night it does the same thing..???

Scan if for codes.

Inspect the wires that are easier to access by rodents and squirrels.

If the service trailer brake message is accompanied by abs related lights, warnings or codes, I'd start by inspecting the wheel speed sensor wires and connectors, then the harness that connects to the abs module.

How old is the battery and have you tested it with a toaster-style tester?

Best,

Brand new battery, it will reset if I leave the key turned on for 20-30 mins and then run but if it sits overnight it locks up again. I’m starting to thing the ignition

No water… a lot of rain in a couple days but it drove fine after all of that. Checked it out and even disconnected the pigtails to be sure. Also disconnected the trailer brake module.

No codes, and the only message is service trailer brakes. I thought maybe brake pedal switch but check it out and all the voltage and everything are good on it

Is the truck attempting to start (even if it won't run)? Or is the key 'dead'? If the key is dead...If you wiggle the key as you rotate it ...does that make any difference?

If it cranks but doesn't run, can you hear the fuel pump kick on when you turn the key? If yes, then it could be a fuel pressure regulator ..or something with the fuel system.. possibly. If no, maybe a relay or the fuel pump relay on the computer (a cheap autozone or Amazon relay bypass cable HERE would be a simple test).

Type in Ram fuel pressure regulator into Y/T and see some videos. It's to the lower L of the master cylinder as you look at the engine bay(from the front).

Also check the relays and fuses for the fuel pump. (and all of the fuses). You can swap relays too.
