2500/3500 Hubs

I was talking about getting a 2500/3500 at work and they kept talking about the front u-joints having to be replaced. I’ve never heard of this issue is it a thing?

U joints? Not sure. But hubs yes. Especially if running bigger tires and any lift. Just had my left hub replaced. 80k miles.

I think it’s all years kinda a 3/4 1ton truck deal. Lots of weight up front.

One hub done at dealer with oem parts was $500. I had extended warranty cost $100. It’s pretty easy fix though if you got the tools

I'm only at 70K on my 2500 Ram and am watching my hubs closely. My last 2500 was an 06 Chevy that I sold with 150K miles. I think I replaced one side twice and one once before I sold. As someone said, it's kind of an HD truck thing. Lots of weight up front.

I have a 2012 2500 and just changed front u joints and hubs on my truck about 2 weeks ago. It has 75k miles.

Is it because they’re always engaged?

My u joints had some play in them so I swapped them out, one hub had some play also and since I am putting bigger wheels and tires I went ahead and put new hubs to not have to worry about them later.
