Guys/girls
There seem to be 2 different announcements/wording by CNN and AP.
It appears 2008 RAM 1500 mega cabs 4x4's are also included in this recall.
Best advice call dealer and give VIN to see if you are affected.
Talked to my dealer about this yesterday because my truck was at the dealer for other problems, mine wanders, needing constant small steering inputs to keep in a straight line due to slop in steering linkage.
Of course I got the same standard reply "CANNOT DUPLICATE YOUR PROBLEM" that is normal for your truck.
My dealer is tired from lack of support from RAM the manufacture for KNOWN issues they cannot fix for their customers.
As we know service and support are necessary, other wise you will not buy the same brand again!!
My dealer said RAM released this information or it was leaked, under pressure because of accidents and could no further Deny they have a problem.
RAM at the moment has no clear solution as to how to deal with it!
As we owners have known, and complained RAM has had a problem for a long time IE the "Death Wobble"
ON EDIT: from AP
The company has since updated the instructions and the parts involved.
The first case covers 842,400 Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks from 2003 through 2008. Chrysler says 116,000 were repaired with tie-rods in the steering system that could be out of alignment. In what universe does someone repair or replace steering components and not do a front end alignment afterwards??
The other two involve trucks with tie-rod assemblies that were replaced in previous recalls. They cover 294,000 Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks from the 2008 through 2012 model years, and 2008 Ram 1500 four-by-four mega cabs. Also included are 43,000 Ram 4500 and 5500 four-by-four chassis cabs from 2008 through 2012.
