This morning my wife and I went to the local shooting range to shoot pistol. As we finished setting up the targets, my 2500 HD suddenly spontaneously started up. Since the fob was in my pocket, and I was about 40 feet from the truck, I was baffled as to why that happened. I have never used the remote start feature (didn't even know how to do it) and I don't use the app.
I went over and shut the truck off, but was really concerned that something might be wrong as I have a long trip coming up. I called RAM when I got home and they told me that they had no cases like this and that I needed to take it to a dealer, after they gave me a case number. I called the dealer and they told me I needed to bring it in so they could watch it and see if this happened again. I asked them how they planned to do that - were they going to have someone stay with the truck indefinitely - and they didn't have a good answer.
I called the local diesel shop where I have most work done and the guy I know there just laughed. He asked me whether I had anything else in the same pocket and I responded, yes, my house key, safe deposit box key, trailer keys, etc. all on the same ring. He very nicely explained that almost certainly the other keys managed to push the button on the fob twice, causing the truck to start. I truly felt like a dummy, but at least the mystery was solved....
