On the 2019 and newer gas powered 2500 (maybe the 3500 also) does not come from the factory with the tow hooks unless ordered as an option. How difficult is this to add at a later time?
I do know that on the 2011-2018 2500 series this could be done and the local dealership had the kit in their parts department sitting on the shelf.
When I was laying under the front of a few 2020 Ram 2500 gassers on the dealership lot it did not look like something that could easily be added.
Obviously when you special order from the factory this is cheaper to have the factory install them. But does anyone know what all is involved to get them installed after it left the assembly line?

It’s easy enough. You’ll need the tow hooks, grade 8 bolts, flag nuts and new trim bezels.

I believe tow hooks are always an option? However, my 2018 HD and my 2019 both have them from the factory

For what it's worth, I added black tow hooks to my 2019 1500. Don't know how similar it is to heavy duty trucks but they went on easily enough for me. I bought them off amazon and they came with everything; the hooks, bolts, and replacement facia panels.

The 1500 between 2011 and 2017 is a different animal than the 2500 and the 3500. Tow hooks are not the same. On the newer 2019-2021 2500 and 3500 I believe it is the same story.
Also, the cummins diesel pickups have the tow hooks as part of the package.

I wouldn't worry too much about no tow hooks unless I was driving a Ford, Chevy, or especially a Toyota.

I have never used mine but from what I hear they are just about worthless! IDK if it's the actual tow hook but maybe what they are attached to that bends fairly easy.

Iv use mine a few times to skid logs but never pulled the entire weight of a truck with it.

They seem stout to me.

The old ones are good for pulling, but if you try to lift with them you can run into issues with them shifting. Doesn't seem to do damage, but takes a bit of effort to square things up again. Also, best to hook to both for any hard pulls. Saw one break and go through the back window of the truck pulling him out. That's why I have 2 short pull straps to hook to my main one now. I'd like to see how the new ones mount. Didn't think they changed much on the hds other than cosmetics and a couple drivetrain items so it wouldn't surprise me if they were the same as before.

My 2014 Outdoorsman has them but I believe that was pretty specific to the Outdoorsman package. Wondering though if that means there are mounting points and you could install them somewhat easily.
