How common is the factory rear 4 link on the 18 2500 ram? I am planning on pulling a 35' gooseneck full time with it and looking at for air bags for it soon but can only find lift kits. Is there a HD bag kit that just replaces the springs?

I have not seen anything to replace the factory springs, and have been looking for sometime. Other than the factory air suspension which is ridiculously expensive, I’ve found these and really like their service and quality.

Looks like an easy kit to install. How is the ride? Also do you pull anything with yours?

I don’t have it personally, but the two guys I know love it. Very stable and they both pull big trailers, 40 ft livestock gooseneck and a triple axle toy hauler, pretty much 24/7/365.

I pull this which is why I want it.

Yeah the $2000 price really turned me off for that! But it’s definitely solid, also a good choice. I forgot about it.
The $2K comes down to how your going to control them, and then the system could become a liability if it fails.
A lot of people are very satisfied with the TimberGrove airbags, I would lean towards using the AirLift 7500 set up on a 2500. Not for capacity but the larger bags that are used. They'll take less pressure to support the load resulting in a smoother ride. AirLifts are bolt on just like the TimberGroves.
I actually have TLC airbags on my 1500, they were about the largest diameter bag available for 1500. Maybe it's splitting hairs but they do ride smooth.

My 2014 has the coils and I supplement with Firestone air bags. Overall, it's a great setup and very capable. Much stronger than the 3500 leaf springs alone - meaning if I pump my airbags up to 90psi my truck will sag far less than a 3500 with the same load. Of course, other things like axle and tire ratings that are stronger on the 3500 come into play. I'm talking strictly about suspension. Also, I never put anywhere close to the max in my bags. 40-50psi is more than enough to keep the truck from sagging under the +/- 3000# payload.

If money were no object, a Kelderman system like Crash posted would be great.

I tow an 11000# 5th wheel and with the hitch and things in my bed I'm usually close to the 3000# payload limit. Overall, I'm super happy with the setup since the coils ride much better compared to the leaf springs when not towing.

I supplemented my 2016 2500 with Firestone 5000 airbags and AirLift remote control compressor. The air bags and Bilstein 5100 shocks really helped the rear of my truck feel much more stable when towing my 14,000 Lb living quarters horse trailer.

I had an issue with the remote control manifold. A 5 minute phone call to AirLift and new one was on the way, no questions asked except my name. They also included a pickup tag. Great customer service from AirLift and the system has been fine ever since. I would definitely buy their products again anytime.

Thanks guy lots to look into. I haul trailers nationwide for a living and like the ride this truck gives as is but under some loads it sags quite a bit. I am looking into a 30-40 ft gooseneck so don't really want the front end in the air causing funky tire wear plus a harsh ride.

It sounds like you're commercially hauling and I'm just curious if/how you can run a 2500 truck with a trailer that large and stay within the necessary weight ratings? 6000# RAWR I think? Are you hauling pillows and bread? :)

Is the gooseneck hitch installed slightly in front of the rear axle? That should put weight on the front axle also. The airbags will help stabilize out any porpoising.
If your gooseneck hitch is behind the axle that's when the problems with lifting the front end happen, adding air bags isn't fixing the problem.

I have a 13,500 pound 5th wheel & I really like the Firestone Air bags. Even without the air bags my truck only dropped about 2" The bags really helped it from porpoising.

This is the setup you need. This will give you two extra receivers so you can haul 2 additional trailers on your runs. Safety chains and breakaway switches are really optional.

The airlift bags on my truck made a huge difference and were easy to install. I also have the wireless air compressor and it works great for keeping the nose down under heavy loads.

Do you have the 1" rear coils? If so, how does it ride with the airbags unloaded. I have been considering installing a set of Timber Grove Bags.

It's the factory gooseneck with the puck system. I also pull some heavier bumper pulls so anything to reduce the squat will help.

Starting with the '14 model year, all the Ram 2500s have a five link coil spring rear suspension unless it has the option factory rear air suspension (still a five link configuration).

I asked about the hitch as I've read horror stories about the hitch being positioned behind the axle for "clearance issues"
My buddy 34' fiver(has the puck system also) that's has a fairly heavy pin and it doesn't squat his 2500 much, pretty much levels the truck. He did add a set of TLC airbags to stabilize the load better, uses the AirLift WirelessOne compressor on them.

I have Thuren Overland springs and shocks all the way around.
